Stephen Curry is a man of multiple talents. However, if there was another endeavor he would indulge in apart from being the greatest shooter, it would be golf. His love for the sport doesn’t require much elaboration. Since the age of 10, he held a club in his hand. 26 years since his obsession with the sport has only intensified. So much so that he launched the Underrated Golf Tour, a medium to raise minority representation in the sport and give the deserving a chance to succeed with the best resources.
While the aim is mainly to uplift, what does the Chef truly dream to be an end goal of this program? It’s simple. He wants somebody from the selected to fulfill his dreams.
“But hopefully the north stars you have somebody, either man or women’s side that is going to you know playing professional golf on whatever tour and is going to look back and like ‘Yeah I got my start at the Underrated Golf Tour. Like that to me would be such a monumental moment,” Curry said in a recent Instagram post.

The program also enables them to play at the most pristine courses, naturally helping them understand and adapt to various conditions and be best prepared for higher competition.
As an achievement, the top three men and women from Season 2 of the Curry Cup earned invites to play at the Walton Heath Golf Club in London. As said before, Curry is extremely passionate about the sport. Even though it is miles apart from basketball, he has seen some common aspects between the two. The immense concentration required and the flow state immediately stand out to him. Previously, he has applied these lessons to improve his productivity on the basketball court.
But what about life after basketball? In golf, it’s common to have players play for long spells. Stephen Curry, an ACC winner, sees himself be on the course regularly once he hangs his sneakers. But he does understand that his success won’t be as rapturous as his illustrious NBA career.

“It’s something that I would be confident I could work toward, because that’s the competitor in me. But I say that with a caveat of complete and utter respect for the professional golfers out there that dedicate their lives to it. Because I do understand how hard it would be. Both can be true. I think I could get there, but I also know it would be a lot harder than my success in basketball,” he said in an interview with Sports Illustrated.
