Bombshells have dropped on Shaquille O’Neal since his ex-wife Shaunie Henderson’s new book made it to the airwaves. Scathing insights into the married life of Shaq and Shaunie have been making the rounds in the public, painting a grim picture of the former NBA champion.

However, Big Aristotle has finally responded, and the reply is perfect. Rather than defending himself, Shaq wrote an Instagram post saying, “I understand… I wouldn’t have been in love with me either. Wishing you all the best… All Love Shaq.” The caption to the post was, “trust me i get it.”

Superman is referring to a specific expert from the book in which his ex-writes, “I don’t know that I was ever really in love with the man, but I was in love with the idea of being married to the man I had a family with. I was in love with the idea of building a life together.” While the aforementioned declaration of not “ever” being in love is a tough pill to swallow, O’Neal’s response was mature and respectable.

Maybe this is the reason that Henderson and the former MVP settled their differences, leading to their healthy co-parenting situation. What’s more is Shaq also admitted to being in the wrong before.

Shaquille O’Neal takes full responsibility for his divorce

Back in 2022, the three-time NBA champion came clean about his part in the divorce with Henderson. “I was a d*ckhead. You don’t know how good you got something till it’s gone. And guess what? It’s your fault. I was living the good life,” said O’Neal, speaking to the People Magazine.

While even Shaunie admits the time she spent with Shaq wasn’t all bad writing, “I truly did enjoy spending time with him. Road trips gave me a chance to be with my husband and experience the NBA life for a little while.” In the end, the “double life” Shaq led during his marriage failing to protect his “vows” became the death of their relationship.

However, Shaunie doesn’t blame Shaq entirely as she thinks “Neither of us took the time to invest in our future by seeking marriage counseling, which, looking back, we probably should have. ” Now, both have been separated, and Henderson also remarried Pastor Keion Henderson and seems to be happy with her new life. Shaq has also turned a corner, realizing his mistakes and learning from them.
