On Sunday, the Seattle Storm hosted their rival Phoenix Mercury with the chance to complete a rare season sweep. It’s an accomplishment they had just twice before in their history. The Seattle team once again showed determination in the closing minutes of the game in their closely contested matchup from a week earlier. This is when the Storm narrowly prevailed on the road in Phoenix by six points. A tough-fought victory over the Mercury on Sunday afternoon, 81-71, cemented their superiority over them for the duration of the season series.

However, this game was not without its dramatic moments. During the fourth quarter, Brittney Griner, following her return to the game, bumped into her own teammate, ending her tumbling down. Notably, this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Brittney Griner triumphantly returned to the court on Saturday after taking a break to focus on her mental health. She had previously chosen to skip a recent road trip in order to address her mental health.

Griner’s return to the game was seamless. She immediately had an impact, helping to set up the game’s first layup before scoring an outstanding 10 points in the fourth quarter. She scored eight points, but her six rebounds and four assists show off her all-around court prowess.

The Mercury faced the storm again on Sunday. Brittney Griner accidentally bumped into Diana Taurasi during the fourth quarter, causing an embarrassing fall.

Griner’s shoulder hit Taurasi’s face, which sent her tumbling down.

While Taurasi seemed to get up with a smile on her face, she was still assisted off the court to the locker due to concussion protocol.

Breaking the game down
