As the regular season continues in full swing and in a somewhat frustrating fashion for some teams, the All-Star Weekend is around the corner to give the fans a respite. Not just the fans, but the players will also find it to be a stress reliever. The NBA has been experimenting with various ideas this season and the latest addition is the NBA vs WNBA three-point contest. The contestants for this are none other than the 2x 3-point contest champion, Stephen Curry and the WNBA rising star, Sabrina Ionescu.

His WNBA counterpart isn’t any less of a threat. Sabrina had broken the WNBA record for three-point field goals made in a single season with 128. Steph spoke highly of his opponent, listing her achievements and commending her confidence. After the exciting event was officially announced by the league, Curry tweeted with the caption, “Stage is set! Let’s get it!” tagging Ionescu at the end. The New York Liberty guard, for her part, answered in kind, taking the challenge to the next level.
Ionescu does not shy away from Curry’s challenge
She retweeted the official NBA post with “I’ll shoot from the NBA line… LETS GET IT!!!!!!!” Ionescu had won the WNBA All-Star 3-point shootout in 2023. Landing 37 points, she surpassed Curry’s 31 points, setting a brand new bar in both the NBA and WNBA.

The WNBA line, on the other hand, is closer to the hoop at 22’1.75 at the top of the arc and 22 feet toward the corners. It’s easy to see why the Oregon alum posted such a challenge. This will be an eagerly anticipated event and there is no doubt as to the amount of attention this All-Star Weekend will garner. All that’s left now is to wait!
