Stephen Curry was crowned the 3-point champion after he beat Sabrina Ionescu’s cracking go at the buckets. All eyes were on the WNBA star as she went off to a flying start, scoring 26 points. When nervy Steph took his mark, many believed that Sabrina would take the crown away. But the Warrior held his nerve till the end and sealed the deal at 29.

While the arena cheered for the 4x NBA Champion, Sabrina won their hearts with her inspiring speech. She said, “That was amazing… come out here and put on a show, but understanding what it means and excited to change the narrative alongside the greatest ever to do it.”

She also stressed upon gender equality with a beautiful message, by adding, “Tonight shows a lot of young girls and young boys that, if you can shoot, you shoot. It doesn’t matter if you are a girl or a boy. I think it matters the heart that you have.”

The journey of the New York Liberty star wasn’t easy. She started off witnessing her twin brother’s games regularly in her childhood, expecting a chance to play with them. Instead, she was asked to play with dolls. Fast forward to now, she competed against the all-time 3-point scoring champion Stephen Curry in front of the world.

She came into the event as the record holder for most points scored in a three-points contest across leagues. She dropped 37 points in the final round and won the WNBA 3-point contest in 2023. Meanwhile, the NBA record was set by Stephen Curry with 31 points.

And, it was Sabrina who challenged Steph ahead of All-Star break and got the event locked & loaded as the mega event on day 2 of the All-Star weekend.
