Did Napheesa Collier just close the book on Diana Taurasi's legendary career? What's your take?

Did Diana Taurasi just play her last WNBA game? Well, that is a major possibility as the 42-year-old got swept by the Minnesota Lynx in a completely one-sided affair. And it was Napheesa Collier’s historic performance that might have put an exclamation mark on Diana’s legendary career. Well, Collier did promise to do so a couple of days ago, “Hopefully we can end her career on Wednesday.” While she worked on keeping her promise, Center Karl-Anthony Towns was busy cheering on the Lynx star.

As Collier went off for a career-high 42 points in tonight’s Game 2, KAT, who was present in the arena among fans, couldn’t stop singing praises of the forward and shared a video highlighting her stats on the big screen. In his Instagram story, the Wolves star tagged Collier and acknowledged her greatness with several fire emojis.

Moreover, Towns also went on X and was left in awe of Collier’s highlight reel of the night as he tweeted, “She too cold.” Well, the Lynx star did shatter several records with the scoring outburst. With her 42-point night, she tied Angel McCoughtry and Breanna Stewart’s single-game playoff scoring record. Surprisingly, this was not her first epic performance of the series. During Sunday’s game, she dropped her then-career-high 38 points in another epic win over Taurasi’s squad.

And tonight, she became the first player with back-to-back 38-plus points games in the postseason. On top of that, she now has the highest scoring total for a two-game playoff stretch. But these records might not match the satisfaction of keeping her promise and ending Diana’s career if it was the legend’s final season.

Well, this season sure looked like a retirement tour for Taurasi. Everywhere she played, she was cheered on by an arena full of fans as if it was her last hurrah. She even got a standing ovation at the Footprint Center during her final regular season game of the year. “If it is the last time, it felt like the first time.” Taurasi remarked while the crowd requested her return with “one more year” chants. Now that Taurasi has been eliminated from the playoffs and her season is officially over, she has yet to announce if she will continue playing or hang her boots.

And her good pal Sue Bird who retired two seasons ago had a simple advice for the legend, “The advice is you have to do what’s right for you. That is the only advice that matters. There is no one size fits all with this. It has to feel good for you, period, point blank. Whether you announce at the start of the season, whether you announce halfway through a season, or you just literally walk away. It’s got to be, when you go to sleep at night, what feels good for you.”

But if this was the last game of her career, Taurasi could leave with her head held high as she finished with 10 points and four rebounds and a twenty-year legacy with countless accolades and a massive impact. Do you agree?
