“I still like dudes, but I got to wear a skirt because I like dudes?” In the 8 years that Courtney Williams has been in the WNBA, she has been discussed around several aspects, including the hooper’s unique look. While SB Nation described her appearance before joining the women’s basketball league as more “traditionally feminine,” Williams herself admitted to adopting the cropped hair look to present herself in a way that was important to her. While not many have chosen to put her appearance before her stats on the court, the same has now become a conversation thanks to an unusual comparison by an NBA player.
Earlier today, Spurs‘ Jeremy Sochan took to his official X account to share himself watching the matchup between the Minnesota Lynx and the New York Liberty. Since his franchise’s season opener is a few days away, the hooper may have taken the opportunity to watch the WNBA. Sochan ended up giving a shoutout to Williams not by highlighting her performance, but by stating “Let’s go twin!”
Often drawing comparisons with Pistons and Bulls legend Dennis Rodman, Jeremy Sochan is known to experiment with his looks by coloring his hair in unusual combinations. His recent beige hair look is the same one that’s been donned by Courtney Williams for quite some time. It led the hooper to put out the remark, but unfortunately, it wasn’t something that every hoops fan seemed to have something good to say about.

Jeremy Sochan blamed for “jinxing” important Courtney Williams game
One social media user did not show any mercy to the Spurs player. Ignoring the looks assessment, he instead chose to put down Jeremy Sochan’s stats, by stating, “She’s a better baller than you.” Yikes!

Not only has Courtney Williams been in the WNBA longer, but a distant glance shows that she has managed to establish slightly better stats than her ‘twin.’ In the eight years during which she alternated between 5 different WNBA teams (not counting her games with the Israeli and Chinese League), the 30-year-old has averaged 12 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists over 289 games. Meanwhile, Jeremy Sochan has played only 130 games in two seasons and averaged 11.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3 assists.

However, it is important to know that during Courtney’s first two seasons, she averaged only 0.5 and 8.1 points, with her averages reaching double digits from the following season onwards. Therefore, Jeremy Sochan should logically not be dismissed so easily.
Another social media user decided to follow the same route as the above commenter, posting, “She’s better than you mate.” Given that he averaged 13.5 points this preseason, Sochan is on the right track to prove everyone wrong!
One individual believed that the hooper shouldn’t have made the comparison, as it didn’t bode well for the WNBA player. Whether he was being sarcastic or truthful about his superstitions, the commenter still took a dig at the NBA player, by writing, “u jinxed her mf.”
Courtney Williams’ Lynx’s game ended in a 67-62 loss against the Liberty. Despite being on the court for 30 minutes, Williams could only secure 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists to her name. Then again, the game seemed to be a tough affair to score in. After all, even Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu managed to only add 5 points to the overall score after playing for 40 minutes.

Another user asked, “Hows it feel having a clone in the W?” Comparisons between certain NBA and WNBA players are not anything new, although most of them are made not based on looks but on the athletes’ prowess.
Since her entry, Caitlin Clark has often been compared to Stephen Curry, thanks to her deep shooting skills, overall playmaking, and popularity. Angel Reese has on occasion been placed on the same pedestal as Dennis Rodman because of her positioning as an offensive rebounder. However, it’s not every day that an NBA and WNBA player is placed on the same pedestal because of their looks.
By highlighting recent pictures of both Courtney Williams and Jeremy Sochan, all that one social media user left in the caption was the term “diabolical.”

Overall, the reactions towards Jeremy Sochan attempting to compare himself with Courtney Williams were quite mixed. Most importantly, the WNBA hooper has not chosen to give her own reaction yet to this viral moment involving her.
