The blockbuster trade of Superstar Damian Lillard has left the NBA world buzzing. The Portland Trail Blazers finally found an offer that seemed worthy of letting go of their franchise’s biggest superstar. Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal to join forces with Former Finals MVP Giannis Antetkounmpo. Even though it was a winning move for the Milwaukee Bucks, they had to give up one of their biggest assets in order to acquire Damian Lillard.

The Milwaukee Bucks traded their superstar point guard, Jrue Holiday, to Portland. Veteran NBA analyst Skip Bayless had a wild take about the Milwaukee Bucks losing Jrue Holiday for Damian Lillard within a week of calling Lillard a “big fish in a very small pond”.

After finally putting an end to the Damian Lillard trade saga, the Milwaukee Bucks would be extremely happy to acquire the 7-time All-Star. The trade has formed one of the most lethal duos in the NBA, with Giannis and Dame on the same team. Skip Bayless, however, believes that losing Jrue Holiday to add Damian Lillard does not make the Milwaukee Bucks a better team. “Trading Holiday for Lillard just made the Bucks a little worse.” The veteran analyst tweeted.

Skip’s outrageous take comes a week after he claimed that Lillard does not really want to leave Portland despite asking for a trade. He believed Lillard loved living in Portland and he was a “very big fish in a very small pond.” Even though Skip’s take about Jrue Holiday’s loss seems outrageous, considering Damian Lillard is a much bigger superstar than Jrue, there might be some truth to the veteran analyst’s comments.

Jrue Holiday’s impact on the Milwaukee Bucks

Jrue Holiday joined the Milwaukee Bucks in late 2020 and had an immediate impact on the team. As soon as the Bucks acquired the veteran Point Guard, they made it all the way to the NBA finals and won their first NBA Championship in 50 years. Holiday averaged 17.3 points, 8.7 assists, and 1.7 steals in the 2021 playoffs, helping the Greek Freak win his first ring. The veteran guard is considered one of the best defenders in the NBA and has the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.

So, Skip Bayless is not completely wrong as Damian Lillard is nowhere close to being the defender Jrue Holiday is. But Dame makes up for that with his elite offense. Who needs defense when you can score 71 points in a game? However, the Milwaukee Bucks will definitely miss the presence of Jrue Holiday as he was a defensive anchor and an elite playmaker for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. Jrue Holiday made a huge impact on the Milwaukee Bucks in just three seasons, and he will always be considered one of the greats of the franchise.
