When it comes to Sierra Canyon hoops, making the postseason is basically a given. Since the Open Division was introduced in 2017, this team has made the playoffs every year without fail. This time, it’s Bryce James, LeBron James’s son, leading the charge. Sierra Canyon and St. John Bosco are set to clash in a high-stakes Open Division playoff showdown.

Meanwhile, the arena buzzed with serious star power at Bronny James’s G League debut. LeBron, Savannah James, and even Lakers execs filled the crowd, turning the night into a full-blown celebrity affair. But for Bryce’s big night, Savannah is missing. However, cameras caught LeBron hanging out with Bronny and his girlfriend, Parker Whitfield, in the stands. The trio showed up to cheer for the 17-year-old. It looks like Bron is stuck third-wheeling the lovebirds.

Whenever anyone from the James family is playing, it is a headline. Even for high school basketball, it was the same case. This game was sold out as well. Maybe people wanted to catch a glimpse of LeBron.

But Bryce’s team failed to put on a display as St. John Bosco pulled off a gritty 60-55 win over Sierra Canyon, leaning on their Big 3 to get the job done. Elzie Harrington, Brandon McCoy, and Christian Collins each dropped 15 points, combining for 45 to power the Braves past their rivals.

Sierra Canyon took a hit with the loss, slipping to 22-6 overall and 2-1 in the Open Division. They’ll need to chin up and move forward. As for LeBron and Bronny, they sure could’ve used this break after the 20x All-Star dropped the bomb 90 minutes before the All-Star game he won’t be playing.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Sierra Canyon rely too much on star power and not enough on team performance this time?

Not only LeBron James, but Bronny was also under fire after the All-Star game disappointment

LeBron James skipping the NBA All-Star Game didn’t just fly under the radar—it set off a wave of criticism. Former players wasted no time questioning his decision, and Chandler Parsons led the charge.

Parsons didn’t hold back On Run It Back (February 18), “All these other NBA players have to play against [LeBron’s] son because LeBron has kinda put him in that situation… so what’s the difference now?” he argued, calling out James for dodging younger talent in the revamped format.

The official reason?

“Lingering discomfort in his left foot and ankle,” per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. James had already sat out in a regular-season game for similar reasons, but plenty of people weren’t buying it. This was his 21st All-Star selection, yet the first time he didn’t suit up.

James defended his absence, saying, “With 30 games left and us trying to make a playoff push in the wild, wild West, I felt like it was very important for me to take care of myself.” But with the All-Star Game’s new format—including three teams of NBA stars and a “Rising Stars” squad—some suspected he just wasn’t interested.

Draymond Green, a close friend of James, wasn’t thrilled with the changes either. “These young guys… don’t deserve the privilege of playing on Sunday,” he told ESPN.

Will the NBA tweak the format again? And more importantly, with LeBron now 40, was this his last All-Star weekend as a player?
