All eyes were on the Super Bowl this weekend, as the Philadelphia Eagles blew the Kansas City Chiefs out of the water, winning their second ever superbowl 40-22 at the Caesers Superdome. New Orleans witnessed a historic match—it was the second highest viewed superbowl in history, garnering a total of 119.7 million viewers (predicted). This also generated interest from all entertainment industries, with the likes of Lionel Messi, President Donald Trump, Adam Sandler, and Beyonce as the guests. And one among the many stars was Milwaukee Bucks newbie Kyle Kuzma‘s partner Winnie Harlow.

Winnie’s work in the industries of fashion and public speaking is quite extraordinary. The Canadian model suffers from the skin condition vitiligo, which is a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color. She faced a lot of slack for this somehow—switching in and out of schools in her childhood due to the verbal abuse by other kids, which even made her contemplate suicide. But after getting inducted into the BBC 100 Women’s list in 2018 and being BFFs with the likes of Beyonce, it’s fair to say that she did have the last laugh.

Think the NBA fans might’ve had a dual-screen setup at home this weekend, due to the abundant Association matches that took place at the same time. One of those games was when the Bucks took on the 76ers, winning with a comprehensive 135-127 scoreline. While the likes of Damian Lilliard (43 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds) and Gary Trent Jr. (career-high 23 points) might’ve stolen the headlines, Kyle Kuzma showcased his brilliance and importance in the team with a solid 13 points and 8 rebounds. There’s chances that his partner Winnie Harlow might find out about this through the internet itself, as she chose to ditch her partner of 5 years to watch football instead.

No one would expect her to make the 1,015.2-mile trip back to Fiserve Forum from the Superdome within a day, and she did witness the Eagles’ wrath on the Chiefs to stop the Kansas team from achieving a three-peat. She did show some love for her boyfriend through her stories, highlighting a tweet that spoke about the one and only Hubie Brown hyping Kuzma’s talent. The tweet read, “Hubie Brown has seen every era of basketball in his existence, and it sounds like Kyle Kuzma is one of his favorite players he’s ever watched,” to which Winnie commented, “Legendary.”

Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show sees backlash

Twitter and Instagram were flooded with clips from rapper Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show rather than about the Eagles’ triumph. His legacy in the industry needs no introduction, as he’s been nominated 57 times, winning 22 of those. 5 of those came for the same song, the DJ Mustard-produced hit single ‘Not Like Us’, a diss track aimed at Canadian rapper Drake during their beef. And here I was sitting, thinking he’d retired after Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers.

After seeing his performance during the show, it’s not surprising it had a split opinion on the internet. His blatant digs at Drake, which included a small skit where Lamar rapped “I want to play their favorite song, but you know they love to sue,” and repeated performances of Not Like Us and Euphoria (another diss track in the beef) are just a few. Another reason might be his popularity—yes, he’s one of the GOATs of rap. But does the bigger audience actually listen to him? Not as much as you might think.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Winnie Harlow make the right call ditching Kuzma for the Eagles' epic Super Bowl win?

Have an interesting take?

His lyrically dense and poetic form of writing mixed in with his dabbling of jazz in his production are arguments used by people to demean the decision to get in Kendrick as the performer. While the likes of Rihanna have sold 60 million albums worldwide, Lamar has just mustered up 10.2 million. He might be a genius, but the world isn’t dictated that way—people would rather see global icons like Beyonce, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga grace the football pitch than the less-popular Kendrick.

It’s fair to see how Winnie Harlow might’ve wanted to see the Super Bowl live rather than see her partner Kyle Kuzma make waves on the paint. It is a once in a year event after all.
