The New Orleans Pelicans will be hosting the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. New Orleans will look to bounce off the loss they suffered last night against the Timberwolves where they fell short 104-97. Dejounte Murray was their leading scorer as he netted 29 points and dished out six assists on the night.

However, the talk of the town was Zion Williamson, who made a return after missing 27 games due to a hamstring strain. Furthermore, the 24-year-old did not disappoint the home crowd! scoring 22 points on return and also grabbed six rebounds and four assists on his return to the hardwood. The Pelicans are playing back-to-back games with tonight’s matchup against the Trail Blazers.

Injuries have been a major concern for the Pelicans this season. This is also a major reason why they have performed so poorly despite being considered a playoff contender prior to the star of the season. However, that seems to be changing for good now, with only three players apart from Zion Williamson in their current report including star Brandon Ingram.

He is out with an ankle injury and set to miss this matchup, but he could make a return soon as he is set to be re-evaluated in two weeks. Apart from him, shooting guard Trey Murphy III is also ruled out from the Portland game as he continues to recover from an ankle injury as well. Lastly, Jamal Cain will not play on Wednesday due to an illness.

To sum it up, although the Pelicans are playing back-to-back games they can pull off a result in this one. Plus the fact that the Trail Blazers also haven’t been playing at their best. Murray and McCollum will be the key players for New Orleans as they will once again be without Williamson and look to grab a win in front of their home crowd.
