The East vs West rivalry has been a constant point of debate in the League. While the answer shifts with every passing match, the excitement surrounding it never fades. Another thrilling matchup is upon us, as the Golden State Warriors are set to host the Philadelphia 76ers at the Chase Center tonight for their first meeting of this season. However, a looming concern for the Warriors is whether their veteran leaders, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, will be available to guide the squad through this crucial contest.

Warriors Injury Report

Well, the Warriors might have to consider alternative options for manpower as Stephen Curry is listed as questionable for tonight. The sharpshooter has reportedly suffered a sprain in his right thumb, which has registered his name on the injury list. Curry has already missed six games due to a knee problem, but the fact that he still has a slim chance of suiting up tonight is a positive sign for the Warriors.

Curry’s partner in crime, Draymond Green, has unfortunately followed him onto the injury list, as per Anthony Slater. In their previous game against the Cavaliers, Draymond was taken to the locker room in the third quarter for a quick check-up by the physiotherapist. Like a true Warrior, he returned in the final quarter but couldn’t help his side against the mighty East toppers. However, Draymond’s lower back contusion didn’t fully heal, so the franchise has listed him as probable for the matchup against Philly. Both Curry and Green will be closely observed before their status is finalized for the East-West clash.

That’s not all for the Dubs. Besides the veterans, the only player who could potentially appear from the injury report tonight is Kyle Anderson. The combo forward was added to the list due to an illness and is now marked as questionable. Meanwhile, both Brandin Podziemski and Gary Payton II will remain out for this game. Brandin sustained an abdominal strain against Phoenix last Saturday and has since been on the injury report. Payton, on the other hand, is dealing with a mild strain in his left calf and is expected to be re-evaluated in one or two days, as his one week recovery period will be over. Much like the Warriors, the Sixers are also in deep waters.

Philadelphia 76ers Injury Report

The one name that helped lift the Sixers out of their miseries, Joel Embiid, is once again on the injury report. The team has clarified that the 7-footer needs rest, but the good news is that he is listed as probable. This means there’s a chance he could be included in the lineup before tonight’s roster is finalized. Joining Embiid on the probable list is Kelly Oubre Jr., who is dealing with a sprained left hand. The 29-year-old has only missed the last game, but otherwise, he has been a regular in the lineup this season.

While their status is still unconfirmed, what’s certain for now is that Jared McCain and KJ Martin won’t be participating. The rookie guard underwent left knee surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus and there’s no timeline disclosed for his return. Meanwhile, Martin suffered a stress reaction in his left foot just over a week ago. The franchise had announced that his injury will be re-evaluated in two weeks and further updates are expected after that assessment.

The Philadelphia 76ers are currently sitting at the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference with a 13-18 record. Thanks to Joel Embiid’s marvelous contributions that the team’s record has improved, but they are still struggling to find consistency. However, the Golden State Warriors are in no better shape. After a strong start, they have dipped to 10th place in the Western Conference and are currently holding a 16-16 record. Without Curry’s presence, their offense could lack its usual spark and Draymond Green’s absence could leave their defense vulnerable, putting them at a disadvantage in key matchups.

The Warriors have a 50-50 win-loss record at home (8-8), while Philly holds an 8-9 record on the road. Both teams will be looking to bounce back from their previous losses, making this matchup hard to predict. With both sides facing challenges, the fixture is expected to be closely contested. Who will emerge victorious and have the last laugh tonight? Tune in at 10 PM ET to witness what is expected to be a nail-biting game.
