With a third away game on the trot, the Dallas Mavericks will need to quickly recoup after last night’s loss. The OT defeat to the Miami Heat in extra time snapped the Mavs’ four-game winning streak. Notably, the Big 3 of Dallas has yet to fire on all cylinders, especially Splash Bro—Klay Thompson. Until now, he has only missed one game this season, but the franchise could see him sidelined again!
Furthermore, the newly arrived Maverick has only achieved the 20-point mark twice this season. Before Luka Doncic and Co. applied themselves to kick-start a 4-game-win streak, let’s not forget the team was in a rut, as they suffered 6 losses in 8 games of November. To avoid another defeat, they’d certainly require the services of Klay, but the 4x NBA Champion is listed on the injury report.
Thompson is listed as questionable ahead of the Hawks game tonight. “Dallas Mavericks wing Klay Thompson (left foot plantar fascia) is questionable to play against the Atlanta Hawks.” Currently, there is no timeline set for the return, and also no confirmation if he will join his teammate Luka Doncic on the sidelines for a longer period. The Slovenian who has pushed the Dallas side to newer heights in his recent seasons will miss the trip to the Kaseya Center because of a wrist sprain.

As per the reports, Luka is out of action for a week at least and will miss the Hawks game. In his absence against the Heat, PJ Washington and Naji Marshall scored 21 and 20, respectively. The former also ended up with a double-double in the last game, and fans would be hoping for the same since Klay Thompson is not 100%. Let’s take a closer look at Dallas’ injury report heading into this crucial matchup.

Well, it seems another star of the Big 3 will miss tonight’s game and is currently the team’s third-highest point scorer. As stated previously, Luka Doncic is out because of a right wrist sprain and he’s expected to be re-evaluated in one week. Kyrie Irving and Quentin Grimes (illness) are both listed as day-to-day. Other players like Dante Exum: out (right wrist surgery) and Brandon Williams: out (G League – Two-Way) are confirmed to be out against the Hawks.
Call it an adjustment or adaptability issue, Klay Thompson has yet to light up games with his on-court performances. And being questionable against the Hawks, it surely puts a small dent in plans but gives the 5x NBA All-Star rest to avoid the back-to-back games. On the other hand, the team from Atlanta is facing issues of their own, as their results have been a mixed bag. Currently, on a 2-game losing streak and 3 losses in the last 5 games. Predictions?
