Tonight will be all about passion, intensity, skill and of course, some drama, as the Minnesota Timberwolves march to the Big Apple for an action-packed East vs. West showdown. And all eyes will be on former on-court brothers, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. But hold on, will the Knicks’ center even lace up on Friday after being listed on the injury report?
Karl-Anthony Towns and Co.’s availability for the Knicks vs Timberwolves game
It’s a huge night for Karl-Anthony Towns. Playing against a former franchise always carries extra weight and for the 7-footer, this matchup with the T’Wolves is no different. A month ago, KAT led the Knicks to victory in Minnesota but tonight, he may not be able to welcome his old team at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks have listed as questionable for the game.

KAT was last spotted in action against the Pistons where he sprained his right thumb. Despite sustaining the injury in the first half, he played through it. In the last game against the Sixers, the franchise had initially listed him as questionable but ultimately decided to rule him out.
That marked his fourth missed game of the season and if he’s not feeling fully recovered, tonight could be his fifth. Even if KAT doesn’t suit up, he’ll be courtside for sure. At least he won’t miss the opportunity to be present for this crucial last regular-season matchup against his former squad.
Karl-Anthony Towns has been a key factor in the Knicks’ impressive 27-15 record, contributing an average of 25.4 points, 13.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Meanwhile, since he moved to the East, the Timberwolves have struggled to replicate the same team chemistry. So, KAT’s presence would undoubtedly have a significant impact on this matchup. But the Knicks will carefully assess his condition before making a final decision on his availability.

While the franchise hasn’t decided on KAT’s availability, they have confirmed the status of Mitchell Robinson and Kevin McCullar Jr. As per ESPN, both have been ruled out. Robinson is dealing with a left ankle injury and McCullar, on the other hand, is still recovering from left knee surgery. For now, he is rehabbing.

After the late changes both teams underwent before the season began, they haven’t quite lived up to expectations. While the Knicks haven’t shown the dominant form many hoped for, they are still clinging to the third spot in the standings. On the flip side, the Timberwolves have slipped to the eighth spot with a 21-19 record.
Over the past two seasons, both teams have kept it close, securing the same number of wins. This season could follow the same trend, with the Knicks having already won one matchup, Minnesota could be next. The Timberwolves are coming off a narrow loss to the Warriors and will be eager to bounce back in this clash. Meanwhile, the Knicks will be confident, playing in front of their home crowd and coming off a victory against the Philadelphia 76ers. How this game will unfold remains to be seen at 7:30 PM ET. So, don’t miss out!
