The Denver Nuggets‘ season took another hit with a tough loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite holding a lead in the fourth quarter, they couldn’t close out the game and ended up defeated. But the loss wasn’t the only setback; their starting point guard, Jamal Murray, exited with a concussion.
In the third quarter, around the 9th-minute mark, Murray took an accidental blow from Julius Randle, leaving him shaken. He was subsequently taken off the court and didn’t return. Nuggets coach Michael Malone voiced his frustration over the missed foul call, saying, “I don’t know how they missed that. He was going to set a rip screen. And his defender, not malicious, it wasn’t a dirty play, but pushed him.” Malone also commented on Murray’s uncertain availability for tonight’s game against the Jazz.

Michael Malone said, “It definitely was a significant hit, so obviously we’ll always prioritize his health and safety. And make sure he’s in a good place. If he’s not able to play, obviously we’re hoping to get him back as soon as possible,” indicating Murray missing the Jazz game. He has been completely ruled out for tonight’s game, as it would be a bit surprising if he started the game.

The Nuggets face their own challenges, with Jamal Murray out for tonight’s game. While Murray has averaged 16.2 points per game this season, his performance has dipped, shooting only 37% compared to a career-high 48% last season. Despite this, his absence is a significant loss for the team. “Jamal is our closer,” Aaron Gordon shared post-game, adding, “So when he’s not on the floor, it’s just a little bit more sporadic.” This lack of stability was evident against the Wolves, where even a 10-point lead couldn’t secure the win.

Adding to the team’s troubles, Vlatko Cancar and DaRon Holmes II are listed as out for the Nuggets.
Russell Westbrook the seasoned veteran might have to start this one as the Nuggets go in as heavy favorites in front of their home crowd. Jamal could soon return to action but till then the Nuggets might have to depend on their squad depth and wait. Nonetheless given Jazz’s form the Nuggets will not have much to worry about.
