New York Knicks Injury Report – Will Jalen Brunson play against the Detroit Pistons?

You might remember that Jalen Brunson rolled his ankle last month against the Lakers. It was quite worrying for Knicks fans to watch their best player hobble off, then miss nearly a month due to this injury. But he made his return on Sunday against the Phoenix Suns. After that, he played nearly 40 minutes during the overtime loss to the Celtics.

This all indicates that Brunson is back to full fitness. And that’s also why Jalen Brunson is not on the injury report for the Pistons game. However, there are 4 Knicks players on the report, and 3 of them are huge stars for the franchise who’ll be missed sorely against the Pistons.

For starters, OG Anunoby is OUT of the Pistons after he sprained his right thumb. Anunoby emerged as one of the Knicks’ top scorers during Brunson’s absence. But it seems doing all that has taken its toll on him. Similarly, after averaging 37.7 minutes across 76 games played this season, Josh Hart will be getting a well-deserved night off against the Pistons. He is OUT of the lineup as he deals with knee issues.

Additionally, Mitchell Robinson is also OUT of the upcoming Detroit game as he recovers from surgery on his left ankle. The big man hasn’t featured heavily this season for the Knicks, owing to the aforementioned surgery. And this trend will continue against the Pistons. Finally, fellow big man Ariel Hukporti is also OUT of the lineup for the Knicks’ upcoming game. He is still recovering from the surgery on the torn meniscus in his left knee. Head coach Tom Thibodeau revealed that Hukporti is unlikely to make it back into the fold for the playoffs. A disappointing way to conclude the season for the youngster!

But that’s it for the Knicks’ injury report. It’s not the worst one we’ve seen for them. So, despite missing some starters, Thibs will still have plenty of options to choose from when deciding on a lineup for the next game. So, let’s see who he might go with.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jalen Brunson lead the Knicks to victory despite the injury woes plaguing the team?
