The Memphis Grizzlies will host the Brooklyn Nets in Friday night’s NBA action. Memphis can score the basketball, there’s no doubt about that! However, the Nets have been able to shut them down in the two previous meetings this year. They have them restricted to just 106 and 104 points in the two games while letting them shoot only 30 percent from beyond the arc.

But the Grizzlies are also in red-hot form and have won four of the last five games. Additionally, they are the best-ranked offense in the league averaging a league-best 122.1 points, a lot of the credit for this goes to their point guard Ja Morant. He’s playing a huge part in their recent rise and although the 25-year-old has missed a few games due to injury he is available for tonight’s clash.

He just dropped a brilliant performance against the defending champions scoring 32 points and ensuring his team’s victory. Apart from Morant, forward Jaren Jackson Jr. has been lighting it up leading the Grizzlies in terms of scoring. On the other hand, Brooklyn, they are trying to navigate the season until their star Cam Thomas comes back from his injury.

This definitely has been a huge blow for them as they have only managed one win in the last five games. However, both Cameron Johnson and Dennis Schroder have been playing their part to keep the team competitive. The Grizzlies also lack a few players in their own roster, so here’s all the latest update before the tip-off takes place in Memphis.

One big absence from the Grizzlies roster could be of rookie center, Zach Edey who is doubtful for the game after suffering an ankle injury. Other names on the report include GG Jackson II who has been progressing well from his offseason foot surgery and is expected to return to play in 6 to 8 weeks. Lastly, we have Vince Williams Jr. who according to the Grizzlies’ announcement has been diagnosed with Grade 3 ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Brooklyn Nets Injury Report

Brooklyn will continue to be without their leading scorer, Cam Thomas who is still recovering from a left hamstring strain. They will also be without Ziaire Williams as he is ruled out of Friday’s game with a knee problem. Veteran forward Bojan Bogdanovic is also still out with a foot injury and has not set a timetable for his return to the hardwood. Lastly, Brooklyn’s young guard Jaylen Martin is also ruled out with a right knee bone contusion for at least 1-2 weeks.

Overall, the Grizzlies’ great form cannot be overlooked and they are the favorites going into this game given Memphis is playing some great basketball. On the other hand, not only the Nets are without Cam Thomas but they have not been in great form, and although Schroder and Johnson can help them put up a good fight it will be an uphill battle against the league’s best offense.
