Is Bradley Beal's injury-prone nature a liability for the Suns' championship aspirations?

Three-time NBA All-Star Bradley Beal was one of the major scorers for the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. Starting the season 5-1, the Suns narrowly beat the Portland Trail Blazers 103-97 at Footprint Center. While Kevin Durant finished with 21 points, Beal’s 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and one block proved crucial. However,  injuries have always been a hurdle for the 31-year-old shooting guard. And now, it looks like his appearance against the 76ers has a question mark hovering over it.

Bradley Beal joined the Phoenix Suns after a trade from the Washington Wizards in 2023. Since then, he has struggled to stay in the lineup consistently. In his first season with the Suns, he missed 29 games. Meanwhile, the Suns have listed him as questionable since he got tangled up against the Lakers on October 25 this season. Beal has been dealing with right elbow soreness for the past four games. Well, it is the same injury that makes his return to the floor against the Philadelphia 76ers uncertain.

But, since Bradley Beal started Saturday’s game against Portland, the team will likely consider him to play on Monday. Even with a ‘questionable’ tag added to his name, the 3x NBA All-Star might turn up on the court for the Suns. In case, the permutations and combinations do not work out then expect Ryan Dunn to get the start. Dunn has averaged 7.8 PPG this season but has scored 13 points and 16 points in his two starts in Beal’s place this season.

The Phoenix Suns will go into Monday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers with a mostly healthy roster, with only Bradley Beal listed as doubtful. Devin Booker and his team’s strong start to the 2024-25 NBA season could give them an edge over the Sixers, who have struggled to find consistency in their early games. This promising momentum might work in the Suns’ favor as they look to capitalize on Philadelphia’s uncertain form.

All Phoenix Suns players cleared for the 76ers game, except Bradley Beal

Bradley Beal’s early-season upper-arm issues, now a sprain, have Phoenix cautious. Besides Beal, only Josh Okogie had been under consideration due to his right hamstring injury. The 26-year-old guard has missed three weeks since a preseason game against the Pistons. However, Okogie made his 2024/25 debut with the Suns on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Bradley Beal’s recurring injuries are threatening his season stats and performance. This isn’t a favorable situation but, nothing much can be done about it.

Meanwhile, the news from Philadelphia could be a bit more concerning. This is because, once again, Joel Embiid will be sidelined. The ‘big guy’ will miss his sixth game due to left knee injury management. The 76ers have upgraded Paul George to questionable, and he may debut against the Suns if all goes well.
