As Steve Kerr saw the red around the Toyota Center only one thought crossed his mind. The nine-time champion felt as if he was in the “depths of hell”. Well, that’s the kind of hostility the Warriors had to face from all over the arena. Fans played an integral role in the Rockets stunning the Bay for the first time since 2020. However, one supporter got a little too personal with Draymond Green.

In a game painted with controversy, the raving fans didn’t think twice before hiding their emotions. First came the chants against the officials. Ironically, a questionable foul call against the Bay might have been the reason for Houston’s escape to Las Vegas. Then there was the exchange with Green.

One fan in particular went above and beyond to attain the veteran forward’s attention. They relentlessly called out to the former DPOY, who wouldn’t reciprocate their heckling. That immensely bothered the fan who responded with further bullying. “Why you being such a b***h,” we heard him yelling toward Draymond Green.

The defensive stalwart caught the fan saying that and said a few words back. “I’ll slap the s**t out of you,” he angrily replied. After that, Green even tried to get the officials’ attention in hopes of taking some action against the fans.

However, it came to no avail.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Rockets' fans cross the line, or is this just part of the game?

Moreover, Draymond Green didn’t have the time to focus on the situation with the Warriors failing to crack through the solid defense Houston deployed in the closing stages.

Grit, luck, and a whole lot of heart get the job done for the Houston Rockets

Going into the final minutes, the Golden State Warriors seemed to be on cruise mode. With a seven-point lead, the Bay would have had their third straight win against the Houston Rockets this season. However, Ime Udoka and the contingent had other plans. After a three-minute dry spell, a triple from Fred VanVleet added life to the home team.

Defensively, they were electric. For three straight possessions, they prevented the Warriors from even getting a shot off. While Stephen Curry began the game preaching efficiency in the clutch, the suffocating pressure rendered him unproductive. The Baby Face Assassin didn’t score a single point in the final three minutes.

Then came the luck. After a miss, a scrappy possession saw both teams fall to the ground, trying to battle for the ball. In the end, it looked as if Jalen Green had called a timeout with enough time for Houston to draw up a game-winner. However, the officials saw a foul in the process. It left Steve Kerr in shock, unable to comprehend the situation.

Battling through his erroneous offensive night, Green sank both, and that’s when the jubilation set in. With only three seconds on the clock, Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski attempted a heave. However, even that wasn’t allowed to get near the rim as the entire Toyota Center arose.

The Rockets had been waiting for this moment for four years. And their spirits, once the final buzzer rang, displayed the pent-up agony that rained over them during times of distress. For the Bay, there was no precision in their execution. The recurring turnovers provided one chance too many for the Rockets. While their offense didn’t deliver a surgical sequence, their tenacity enabled them to turn fortunes.

While this game was engulfed in controversy, in terms of their demeanor, the Houston Rockets looked to be the team with greater desperation and the result ultimately showed.
