“Draymond’s gonna get plenty of technicals. As long as he doesn’t get the second one, we’re fine.” Steve Kerr made it his mission earlier this season to avoid the risk of Draymond Green getting ejected because of his actions on the court. Obviously, everyone saw last year how his absence impacts the entire team. But Kerr was not able to keep his word tonight as the former DPOY got tossed from the NBA Cup encounter against the Memphis Grizzlies. And the head coach was left fuming after the game.
The incident occurred during the closing minutes of the game while everyone was waiting for the final whistle as the Warriors overpowered their opponents. Unhappy with the way the game was being officiated, Draymond began chirping at the officials and received his first tech. Sure enough, Kerr checked him out of the game as the outcome was already decided but Green continued giving the officials an earful from the bench. He instantly received his second tech and got ejected from the game with over a minute left.
Before heading to the locker room, he was even seen mouthing “F**k you” to the referee. Meanwhile, Kerr stood on the sidelines, surprised by the decision. And it was clear that the head coach was not happy with the officiating either because he charged at the refs after the game ended and began pointing and yelling at them. Gary Payton II and Moses Moody held him back and took him to the locker room before the issue escalated any further.

Even while on his way back, Kerr looked extremely angry and continued yelling. Well, it is unclear what he was frustrated about, but the tensions were surely running high despite the Warriors picking up their third straight win. After the game, Kerr addressed the issue saying, “The last quarter, the last half was disgusting. I felt bad for our fans having to watch that – what transpired.”

Draymond Green calls Grizzlies’ offense ‘Unconventional’ after controversial foul on Zach Edey
Obviously, there was some tension between both teams from the very beginning. It was early in the second half when Draymond Green hit the deck hard while driving the ball to the basket. And when Zach Edey picked up the loose ball to run a fast break, his foot got tangled up between the Warriors star’s arms. But replays showed that Green might have intentionally clamped the foot to stop the Grizzlies from getting easy points.
Sure enough, that could have led to a serious injury for Edey, as he immediately fell to the floor. And Green was called for a foul. After the game, Draymond also addressed how the Grizzlies’ unique offense challenged their winning streak. Deeming it “unconventional,” he said, “To see that for the first time, took a little getting used to. But I thought the coaching staff did a great job of preparing us for it.”

Moreover, he claimed, “In the NBA, most rotations and patterns are pretty similar. What they are doing is like I haven’t seen it.” He detailed how the Grizzlies are constantly rotating and making it difficult for their opponents to keep up with them.
The Warriors were able to find a way to overcome this challenge and continue their hot streak. But the controversial end to the game and Draymond’s ejection might have overshadowed their win. Do you agree?
