It didn’t take long for basketball aficionados to get hooked on Netflix’s ‘Starting 5’ docuseries. The 10-part series offers a rare, intimate look into the lives of NBA players. The first edition featured five of the biggest, yet opposing personalities and dwelled into their life that go beyond the court. Inspired by the ‘Quarterback’ series, there have been revelations about a second season of the NBA-inspired show. And after LeBron James’ appearance, many are looking toward Kevin Durant to feature in front of the cameras.
In general, the Slim Reaper isn’t somebody who displays his personal life and everyday happenings to the world. His online presence is immense but commanded by his brutal responses to critics, rather than his social life. When speaking to Kay Adams, that’s one of the reasons Durant mentioned when pondering over an appearance on ‘Starting 5’.

Kevin Durant did give it a thought. But the idea of having cameras follow him around all day throughout the season didn’t appeal to him. “I don’t know how much fun that would be,” he told the host of Up and Adams. The 36-year-old has seldom spoken about his private life and prioritizes separating it from the exposure he is often exposed to being one of the marquee players of the NBA.
Durant did make an appearance in the first season of the Netflix series. Although, it came from the visions of Anthony Edwards who idolizes the two-time Finals MVP. Safe to say, KD isn’t on board with the idea. However, it doesn’t mean he is opposed to having conversations. Durant seems to appreciate a relaxing environment that’s simple yet allows him to share his story. Coincidentally, he termed his current placement to be his personal version of ‘Starting 5’.
“I don’t know if that’s for me or not. You know what I mean? I like this. This is my ‘Starting 5’ right here,” the Suns forward relayed.

Despite Kevin Durant claiming he doesn’t like cameras around, the 14-time All-Star has indulged in a documentary before. In 2014, still a part of the Thunder, he came out with The Offseason: Kevin Durant. The show explores his daily activities once the season concludes. Cameras followed him around, whether in cars or on the private jets.
However, his tastes have evolved since then. Extending from his recent confession, Durant did feature in ‘Boardroom’ a six-part series that talks about the sports and entertainment landscape. During that time, the Slim Reaper spoke about the various aspects of his life sitting in front of Rich Kleiman, a co-founder of his production company.
That happens to be among the contractual reasons that KD might not be able to participate in the Netflix series. Just like LeBron James’ ‘Uninterrupted’ media production company, Durant too has used his resources to make investments and launch a company – Thirty-Five Ventures.

‘Starting 5’ already has a dedicated team of producers with the likes of Payton Manning and Barack and Michelle Obama being part of the project behind James. With that in mind, it’s unlikely that Kevin Durant’s production company could be involved in the making of the series after the success of its first season.
Depending upon the circumstances, it still remains a possibility nonetheless. If he truly wants to, there are no roadblocks that can’t be eradicated. However, by the looks of it, Durant appreciates a demure conversation rather than having the incessant camera crew following him around daily.
