With a 26-25 record, the Phoenix Suns sit outside the top 6 seeds at 9th in the daunting Western Conference. It’s not like the Suns don’t have the quality in their roster to do it. But confusion during the trade deadline has seemingly affected their locker room, leading to disarray for the Phoenix side. And at the center of everything is former NBA champion, Kevin Durant. But for how long? Trick question, there.

KD’s partnership with Devin Booker, and to a lesser extent, Bradley Beal, is integral to the Suns’ success in the NBA. But the 2014 MVP missed his last 2 games with an ankle injury. Phoenix won 1 of those games while they got decimated in the other. Not good.

Surprisingly, Kevin Durant was on the court performing shooting drills with the squad ahead of the Denver Nuggets game. That spurred hope within the Phoenix Suns faithful. Well, at least the ones who didn’t read the injury report yet. That’s because it lists Kevin Durant as OUT of the Denver Nuggets game because of a sprained left ankle…

The Suns are missing Bradley Beal against the Nuggs as well. But it’s the absence of KD that’ll sting the most as he’s now missed three straight games after the Mat Ishbia-led trade window. He was not happy he was put into trade talks. I think it’s unpredictable what will happen for the next few months… But I think right now it is reasonable to forecast that Durant will be breaking up with the Suns in the summer,” wrote Windy. This report will have Suns fans sweating bullets now, in the dead of winter.

Brian Windhorst further clarified: “I would just say that the biggest thing Kevin Durant was upset about, I think, not knowing he was involved in trade talks.”

KD is easily the best Phoenix Suns player right now. And while they may be able to get a fair few assets for him, fans will still hate to see the duo of him and Devin Booker separated. Booker just broke the Suns’ all-time points record this month against the Portland Trail Blazers, currently at 15,768 points. And this was in no small part due to him and KD linking up to terrorize the league’s defenses.

Losing the Slim Reaper will be a hard pill to swallow for any Suns fans. But let us know, who do you think should replace him if he does end up leaving?
