It’s time for the Milwaukee Bucks to take on the Charlotte Hornets. The Bucks are fresh off trading Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma. This will be their first game without him on the roster since the 2013-14 season. As if missing one of their most experienced vets wasn’t enough, there’s more bad news for you, Bucks fans. You may now fear the worst because it’s about Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Giannis was slated to start tonight’s game against the Hornets. However, literally minutes before the game, he was scratched from the lineup. It seems tightness in his left calf prevented him from playing. This is quite a setback for the Bucks, especially since it’s so close to the game.
Milwaukee soon announced that Bobby Portis would be starting in Giannis’ stead tonight. The Greek Freak was originally marked QUESTIONABLE for the Hornets game. This was later upgraded to PROBABLE. However, after warming up with the team, he did not exit the locker room when the starters were announced. And soon he was ruled out entirely.

The Bucks, who are on a 4-game losing streak, will sorely miss the 31.8 points that Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging this season. However, they will also want to be careful with him, given he missed their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder through injury. Although, if one of his deleted tweets is anything to go by, the Bucks may need to get used to life without their talisman.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s deleted tweet spurs wild speculation about a move to a rival!
The Bucks trading Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards made one thing clear. They still want to contend for the title. But one of their biggest stars may be putting those plans in jeopardy. In fact, Giannis may end up being what stands between the Bucks and a title after the February 6 trade deadline. Recently, Antetokounmpo sent out and then deleted a tweet that sent the internet wild with speculation. Posting this tweet right after Middleton’s trade only added another layer of uncertainty to the whole ordeal.
Was Giannis unhappy with the trade? Was he already looking for a way out?

The Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, and Houston Rockets. Chicago is the team with the least chance of bringing in Giannis. In the process of rebuilding, a trade for him wouldn’t be the best option for them right now. As for the Rockets, well, they have built quite the side right now, and they’ll have to part ways with some of their talented youngsters if they truly want to bring the 30-year-old into the fold.

The Miami Heat are the best candidates for Giannis’ services. After finally offloading the troubled Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors, they will want a worthy replacement. With a $48M wage off their books, the Heat can make a move for Antetokounmpo, who receives the same amount from the Bucks. Nevertheless, we don’t see the Milwaukee team letting him leave that easily.
Giannis moving to another NBA team is pure speculation at this point. The 2x MVP does have a few years left on his contract after all. But who knows? Stranger things have happened in this trade window.
