The Miami Heat are struggling ahead of their upcoming game against the Dallas Mavericks. No, it’s not their form, although that could do with some improvement. No, we’re talking about the fact that their list of injured players simply keeps on growing. And sadly, Bam Adebayo is the latest addition.
A knee injury has ruled out Adebayo for the game against Dallas. And there’s not even a timeline for Adebayo’s return yet. The Heat’s center was having a great season, averaging 16.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Adebayo also led the team in steals with 1.2 per game. He also looked great in the Heat’s loss to Oklahoma last night with 27 points and 15 rebounds. The Heat will surely miss his defensive prowess on the court tonight.
But don’t think Bam Adebayo is the only player out for the Heat. As we said, their list of compromised players is still growing. Remember the stomach bug that nearly caused Tyler Herro to miss the Oklahoma City Thunder game? Well, it has a ‘new’ victim.

Miami’s new signee, Andrew Wiggins, is the latest to fall to the stomach bug that’s been going around the locker room. Prior to him, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Duncan Robinson, and Terry Rozier have all fallen victim to this little bug. And let’s just say that it isn’t exactly an ideal start to Wiggs’ South Beach life.
However, as far as the big picture is concerned, Miami is quite shorthanded, heading into their upcoming game with only 10 players available in their squad. And 3x All-Star Bam Adebayo believes the problems lie beyond their roster.
Bam Adebayo goes after the Miami Heat coaching staff following the harrowing loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder
The Miami Heat were on their way to beating the Oklahoma City Thunder last night. They looked incredible in the first quarter, entering the second with a commanding 35-23 lead. However, they would steadily run out of steam as the Thunder closed the gap in the 2nd and 3rd. Miami only led those quarters with a narrow 1-point gap.
Their loss in momentum would snowball into them losing the game after being outscored 32-8 in the 4th quarter. And Bam Adebayo was clearly unimpressed with his team wasting a 27-15 performance from him. However, it wasn’t just his teammates that bore the brunt of his disappointment. No, the coaching staff at Miami also drew his ire following the OKC game.

“It’s one of those things, man. It’s a lesson. How many times we gotta keep learning this lesson? It’s not just the players, it’s the coaches as well. We gotta understand, we gotta all be on the same page,” said Bam in abject disappointment, talking to the media post-game.

Fans have been quite critical of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra this season. First, his handling of Rookie of the Year contender, Kel’el Ware, early on this season displeased them. Then his reliance on Terry Rozier, despite several underwhelming performances, upset fans once again. The Heat’s fanbase has suggested the team go the Brad Stevens route with Spoelstra.

The Celtics moved longtime coach Stevens to the front office in 2021 and it paid off. He won Executive of the Year last year while the Celtics clinched an NBA title. However, it may be a little premature for Spoelstra to do the same. After all, the Heat aren’t playing horribly. They simply need to tighten up as a unit.
Even so, they went under .500 for the first time this season. So, things need to change for them quickly if they want to retain their Playoff spot. Let’s hope they can come together as a team as the week-long All-Star break hits us after the Mavericks game!
