The Celtics are still rolling after last season’s championship, proving they’re one of the league’s best. With a 38-16 record, they’re holding down the second seed in the East. But their next challenge? A matchup with Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs—without Jaylen Brown.

JB was already sidelined for the last game, making this his second consecutive absence—the courtesy of a swelling on his right knee. Although, tonight’s absence will make it the 4x All-Star’s ninth missed game this season, the Celtics have handled business just fine without him, boasting a 6-2 record in those matchups.

Jayson Tatum has been the driving force, putting up MVP-level numbers with 26.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. Brown, meanwhile, hasn’t been as sharp since his Finals MVP run. But Boston isn’t sweating it.

Tatum will take on a heavier scoring load, and this squad has more than enough weapons to keep rolling. As for Brown’s numbers this season? Solid but not spectacular—22.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, shooting 46.1% from the field, 32.4% from deep, and 74.6% from the line. But while he’s recovering, he has been making some personal achievements.

Oakley just locked in Brown, teaming up with the Celtics star for a fresh take on performance eyewear and sportswear. He’ll help design new gear, including collabs with his brand, 741. Oakley is also backing his youth-focused initiatives, supporting ‘The XChange’ and ‘7uice Foundation’. Plus, they’re now his exclusive eyewear sponsor.

That’s not all he did while recovering. He also appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Celtics maintain their dominance without Jaylen Brown, or is Tatum enough to carry them?

Jaylen Brown gave a shout-out to Donovan Mitchell

Jaylen Brown stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, diving into everything from his NBA success to his performance brand, 741. Fallon wasted no time hyping him up—four-time All-Star, 2024 Finals MVP, and a key part of the Celtics’ 18th championship. Not a bad resume, right?

With the All-Star Game coming up, Brown sounded excited to hit the court again. “It’s a lot for the fans,” he said, appreciating how rare it is to see that much talent in one place.

Then came the Dunk Contest talk. Fallon brought up Brown’s viral moment from last year, and JB admitted he never actually practiced jumping over Donovan Mitchell—because Mitchell skipped rehearsal. “So, shout-out to Donovan for that,” he laughed.

And if the dunk had gone wrong? “We all would’ve found out together.”

Switching gears, Brown teased an upcoming collaboration with Bill Nye the Science Guy—yes, that Bill Nye. He also broke down the meaning behind 741, explaining its connection to healing frequencies and clearing negativity. But at the end of the day? “I just like numbers,” he shrugged.

He showed off sunglasses, gloves, and sneakers from his line, highlighting the $70 kids’ shoes. Fallon, of course, had to ask if they could help him dunk like Brown. Without missing a beat, Brown hit him with, “Absolutely.”

Let’s hope that the Celtics star returns to the hardwood soon and his collaboration with Oakley takes off.
