The Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef is one of the best and probably will stay the most talked about event of 2024. With the whole music industry set on fire, the two rappers went at each other with multiple diss tracks. Now, the two have a history, but the situation really triggered a few months ago. Well, them going back and forth not only seemed like a never-ending beef but also a treat for the fans, as they’re the best in the industry. It is safe to say that if we combine all the diss tracks, it would make the best-selling album!
Nevertheless, here is the KDot and Champagne Papi feud in detail.
It all started when Drake and J Cole released the song ‘First Person Shooter’ in late 2023. Now, for the most part, it was a great track and didn’t have anything negative toward anyone. But there was this one bar by J Cole where he called himself, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar- the Big 3 of the music industry. Yes, the three artists are massive and it also wouldn’t be a super-wrong opinion to say that.

However, just a month later, Future, Metro Boomin, and KDot released the track ‘Like That’. Lamar replied to the J Cole bar as he called himself the biggest artist, “Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ M********k the Big Three, n—a, it’s just big me,” which was basically a dig at being part of the so-called big three.
This was then followed by three diss tracks on KDot. One from J Cole, for which he apologized just two days later and deleted the track. “I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissing / You want some attention, it come with extensions / He still doing shows but fell off like ‘The Simpsons,’” were the lines in “7 Minute Drill”. And then the two from Drake, which started the beef in full glory.
Right after Drake was involved, the focal point of the situation shifted to him and KDot. Champagne Papi released ‘Push Ups’ and an AI voice-based diss track ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’. This particular track used AI to impersonate Drake’s voice to sound like the late Tupac and even Snoop Dogg!
At this point, Lamar finally responded with a six-minute diss, ‘Euphoria’. The two rappers then went back and forth, replying in days and even hours to the disses. However, it all came down to a halt after KDot’s track, ‘Not Like Us’.
Of course, Drake replied to the diss, ‘The Heart Part 6’. But Kendrick’s last track in this beef stood out the most and it topped the Billboard Hot 100. The song has been streamed over 500 million times on Spotify in the last two months. The track is so popular that it became Team USA’s victory anthem!
Following their win against Canada in the exhibition game, the arena DJ played the track, which in itself seemed like a callout to Drake! But it wasn’t a one-time affair.
Team USA continues to play Kendrick Lamar’s hit track!
After their dominant win against Serbia in Abu Dhabi, Team USA rocked ‘Not Like Us’ yet again. At this point, this may just be their permanent victory anthem. LeBron James, on the other hand, loved that they played the track. Whereas Steph Curry said, “Damn with this song! It’s not the only song in America!“. They’ll face South Sudan next on Saturday. It will be interesting to see whether the Americans rock the same track, should they emerge victorious.
While Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s beef wasn’t a competition between the Canadians and Americans, with the recent win over Canada, it certainly seemed to have turned into one. So, their beef has finally come to a halt and there hasn’t been any word from either artist for quite some time now. However, judging from the fans’ perspective and what they’ve been talking about on social forums, Kendrick seems to be the commonly deemed winner of it all in the end.
