The UCLA crowd welcomed Bronny James with cold shoulders. The USC guard has had a struggling season so far averaging around 5 points in his last 18 games. And, the 19-year-old returned to the court earlier this season after recovering from a cardiac arrest. However, these affairs didn’t seem to affect the LA crowd, as they went after him and also included his superstar father, LeBron James, in their ugly chants.

Bronny stepped on the court for his 18th game this season. But before even the freshman clocked into the game, the UCLA crowd began their antics. He clocked in around the 14th-minute mark in the first half and the crowd chanted: “Overrated… Who’s your daddy,” in an attempt to get into the skin of the youngster. This isn’t the first time when Bronny was welcomed with these ugly chants.

During his high school playoff games, the crowd disrespected James Jr. in front of his father. While the UCLA crowd asked “Who’s your daddy”, the high school crowd chanted “Daddy’s boy” in front of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

However, on both occasions, Bronny had the last laugh. In tonight’s game, the USC went on to win the game with a 62-56 record. And Bronny recorded 2-2-2, coming off the bench. During the high school game, he dropped 16 points to help his team take home a comfortable 64-47 win.

Keeping the ugly chants and disrespect directed at him aside, Bronny has a lot left to prove. Especially after LeBron James expressed his wish to play alongside his son before he retires from the game.

Unlike his son, James went to the NBA straight after his high school, where he averaged around 25 points. While it may seem impossible for Bronny to make it to the league, a recent Jimmy Butler comparison has something else to offer.
