What’s Kevin Durant hiding with his cryptic reaction to Anthony Edwards' dunk? Any theories?

When it comes to social media and all the happenings on the internet, KD’s the boss! There’s nothing that goes past him. Or in the latest case, the revival of something. In 2018, Blazers guard, CJ McCollum, inadvertently created one of the most viral NBA memes ever with a hilarious reply to a hardcore Warriors fan. Yup, we see those gears turning now. A lot of you might already get the idea of where this story is going. But it seems like there might still be a few who are not too aware of CJ’s past.

A past that Kevin Durant just brought back. Bleacher Report posted a photo of Anthony Edwards dunking over the ‘Slim Reaper’ with quite the caption. “THIS PHOTO OF ANT DUNKING OVER KD IN TEAM USA PRACTICE 😳🔥.” Durant, the jokester that he is, decided to turn it into a classic. Resharing the post on his X account, he wrote, “I tried Jennifer.” Yup, THE Jennifer! The one and only Dubs loyalist, Jennifer Williams, who became a mini-celebrity after McCollum’s shenanigans in 2018!

While almost all of the comments section roared with laughter at KD’s comical reply, there was one fan who asked, “Whos Jennifer”. So, here’s the backstory. As mentioned, it was in 2018 that CJ McCollum’s criticisms of the Golden State Warriors loading up on superstars and the said stars being ring chasers caught the attention of avid fan, Jennifer, who goes by the username @ChocDelight1980 on X.

Having heard enough, she commented, “Win a playoff game then talk.” CJ, not missing a beat, responded, “Im trying Jennifer.

Needless to say, NBA fans immediately ran off with the comment and turned it into a viral meme. GIFs, images, videos, and photoshopped renditions of the comment followed at an insane speed. And now, the 35-year-old has brought back the refreshing memory.

Have an interesting take?

If you thought it was just the one fan, here are a few more who seemed just as clueless.

Kevin Durant might’ve just brought a core Warrior memory back, but not every NBA fan is in the know

This one fan seemed somewhat agitated, perhaps seeing a woman’s name on Kevin Durant’s account. “Who tf Jennifer or is it a reference to something?” It sure is – a reference, that is. In fact, this next fan graciously obliged and posted the OG tweet as their comment.

A year later, in Game 2 of the Blazers vs Warriors, Williams was a guest on ESPN’s pre-show with Rachel Nichols. Seeing the woman of the hour, CJ, who was warming up for the matchup, walked up and met her. Despite wearing blue and gold, the pair were seen hugging and sharing a smile. Suffice it to say that it was one of the more heartwarming moments of the NBA.

And finally, the comment reached the lead herself. Jennifer shared KD’s post on her account with just one emoji, “👀”.

She further amplified the scenario by replying to a netizen, who called her a legend, in her comments section. “Friend, the cherry on top is I was ready to go to war for the Dubs 💪🏾”. Well, thanks to Kevin Durant, Williams is sure to see an influx in her DMs for the next few days. Did you get the reference as soon as you read the 14x All-Star’s reply? Or were you also perplexed as to what No. 35 was up to this time?
