There was one reason Stephen Curry rose to the land of basketball greatness. It is his insatiable desire to get better and recruit more skills in his arsenal. A similar attitude seems to be looming over the Baltimore-based company, Under Armour. Partners to the Baby Face Assassin, the company is reportedly searching for ways to improve its shoe department. With the hefty deal with Curry in place, they might have taken their first step toward development.

Kevin Plank, the latest CEO of the company, made his first major hire. He has welcomed a shoe and apparel tycoon into the business. Joining Under Armour will be Yuron White, a former employee at Nike, as Nick DePaula revealed. But who is White and why is his introduction such a monumental moment for the brand? Let’s find out.

If there was a Hall of Fame for jobs, White would probably be a first ballot. He has held important positions in the offices of Nike and New Balance. White has ample experience and the creative talents to help Under Armour and the Curry brand grow into a household name.

Plank’s main purpose in bringing on White was his expertise in the world of sports shoes and apparel. The newest hire had a respectable career at Nike as his first job. At his peak, Yuron White was the VP of footwear for the Jordan brand, the biggest sneaker in the world at Nike Shanghai. After his stint at the Swoosh, he migrated to New Balance, where he worked as the vice president of global lifestyle, basketball, and innovation.

White will assume the newly introduced Senior Vice President role supervising the Curry brand, basketball, sportswear, and Run & Collabs at the company.

“We are so excited to welcome Yuron to Under Armour. His experience in sportswear and footwear will be instrumental in our next chapter of growth and delivering elevated design and product. I know that he will help us extend the reach of our offerings and partnerships to drive consumer demand,” said Under Armour’s chief product officer.

Since Stephen Curry joined the roster, Under Armour has reached new horizons in terms of the performance of their products. Curry’s shoes have been streamlined to suit a hooper and help maximize his impact on the court. That’s exactly what White is counting on as a catalyst to grow even bigger.

“I am eager to lead the charge in creating cutting-edge footwear solutions that empower athletes to reach new heights of performance,” said Yuron White, according to Footwear News. “Together, we will build on Under Armour’s legacy of pushing boundaries and setting new standards, driving growth and success both on and off the field,”.

White brings with him over two decades of experience and a boastful resume of results. It comes at the perfect time, as the Curry brand places itself among the top basketball sneakers in the world. Do you think White will benefit Under Armour as much as his history makes it seem?
