Terrence Shannon Jr. wasn’t accustomed to waiting so long to get his name on the scoresheet. But, as it turned out, the timing was immaculate. On Thursday, playing in his hometown of Chicago, the Wolves rookie, finally got his moment after a 7-game-long wait. He scored his first bucket! With Minnesota in total control, Shannon came in front of a lazy cross-court pass, tipped it, and scooped it from deep in the left wing, to then make a thunderous dunk. This was needed after he had a slow start to life in the NBA.
Shannon Jr. was the 27th overall pick by the Timberwolves, but the guard decided to stay home in Chicago instead of traveling to the Big Apple for the draft. He did it to have an opportunity to celebrate with those who are closest to him! This included his family, close friends, teammates, and his coach Brad Underwood, who were in attendance for the big day. There was also a certain someone present who made a lot of headlines; we’re about to find out more about who that was, as we take a look at the young guard’s dating life.

Terrence Shannon Jr.’s journey to the NBA was longer than most of the first-round picks, including a trying final year in college with an off-court issue that cast doubts over his pro career. Shannon was landed by the Wolves, a place that looked like an ideal fit for the Illinois guard. He started as a four-star rated prospect and committed to playing for Texas Tech. Playing for the Red Raiders in his freshman year, Shannon Jr. averaged 9.8 points and earned Big 12 Conference All-Freshman Team honors. In his sophomore season, he took his averages higher to 12.9 points and 1.4 assists per game, getting him into the All-Big 12 Third Team.
Terrence Shannon Jr. then declared for the 2021 NBA Draft while maintaining college eligibility but soon returned for his third season with the Raiders. A year later, he entered the NCAA transfer portal and committed to Illinois. However, as his 5th college year overall began, the youngster was suspended because of an off-court issue involving a shocking false rape accusation which was later cleared.
