“I don’t remember the exact first day I saw her. There was no wind blowing in her face with a backlight.” For Stephen Curry, his first encounter with his future wife wasn’t exactly a scene from a rom-com. Yet, nearly two decades after that initial meeting, 13 years of marriage, and four children later, Ayesha Curry remains the center of the NBA star’s world.
Recognized by Vegas Insider as one of the two most influential WAGs (wives and girlfriends of high-profile athletes) in the NBA, the 35-year-old has captured the hearts of Bay Area fans and NBA followers alike. Her engaging personality, strong social media presence, and accomplishments in various fields—from cooking and acting to lifestyle management and philanthropy—have made her a household name.
So, without further ado, let’s dive deeper into the life of one half of the NBA’s modern power couples.

Who is Ayesha Curry?
Ayesha Curry was born in Toronto, Canada, and moved to the United States in 2003 at the age of 14. She has a diverse background, with her mother of Afro-Jamaican and Chinese-Jamaican heritage, while her father is of African-American and Polish descent.
Shortly after leaving Toronto, Ayesha’s family settled in Charlotte, North Carolina—the same city Stephen Curry’s family had chosen to call home after his father, NBA great Dell Curry, joined the Charlotte Hornets in 1988. It was here that Steph and Ayesha first crossed paths through a youth group organized by a local church.
In an interview with People magazine, Ayesha recalled her first impressions of Steph, describing him as “the cute boy at church that all the girls were obsessed with.” According to Steph’s sister, Sydel, in her biography, Ayesha would often find ways to chat with him after church services.
“That’s how she would flirt with him in a way,” Sydel said. “He clearly liked it. It left an impression.”

Being still young, nothing blossomed between the duo during their days in Charlotte. Instead, Ayesha relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Before that, she only had one acting credit role to her name, having starred in Suga Prince’s ‘Too Young for Love’ song at just 12. In 2008, when Ayesha was starting her career in Hollywood and Stephen Curry was just one year away from being drafted into the NBA, the two reconnected.

After initially turning down a Facebook proposal—possibly due to her “no athletes” rule—Ayesha eventually started dating Steph. She confessed her love months before he gathered the courage to say it back, and he later proposed in a heartfelt moment, unaware that their families were watching. In 2011, Ayesha and Steph married, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Who are Ayesha Curry’s four children?
Just a year after marrying Stephen Curry, Ayesha welcomed their first child, Riley Curry. Long-time NBA fans remember Riley as the playful little girl who would often join her dad’s press conferences, delighting everyone with her giggles, questions, and “hiding” antics behind the curtain. Her lively presence quickly made her a beloved figure among Curry’s fans. Given that those instances occurred almost a decade ago, Riley Curry has certainly grown since then. Today, she is a 12-year-old girl who has chosen to follow her grandmother’s path, instead of her father and has taken up volleyball as her sport. She also gives her mother a helping hand whenever her mother is on her way to prepare something special to eat.
Similarly to Ayesha, Riley has also made an appearance on TV, tagging alongside Sydel during an episode of ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ and picking a wedding dress that Steph’s sister would wear during her wedding with NBA star Damion Lee.
Ayesha immensely loves her eldest daughter, but reportedly carries one regret involving her. It is the regret that she didn’t shield Riley at a time when she should have been deemed too young to be judged by the people of the outside world.
“When the social media thing started, nobody knew what that was going to become” said Ayesha in an interview. “If we had known back in the day just how chaotic it would make life, I don’t think we would’ve done it… But we were just genuinely living our lives back then. And we thought, ‘This is our kid. We’re bringing our kid along.’”
The couple’s second daughter, Ryan Curry, was born in July 2015. Much like her older sister Riley, 9-year-old Ryan has shared many memorable moments with her parents, including a 2019 clip where Steph braided her hair as she playfully fought with Riley over chips. She also made a sweet appearance during the 2022 NBA Finals, high-fiving her dad from the stands, and often appears in joyful moments with her mom on social media, from dancing to Beyoncé to flashing big smiles for the camera.
Canon Curry, born in 2018, was the couple’s youngest until the arrival of their son, Caius Chai, earlier this year. Known for his strong personality, Canon is often called the most “social” of Ayesha’s children, with memorable moments like giving a “strong” fist bump to Draymond Green, excitedly greeting Klay Thompson, and running around the court after giving Steph his All-Star ring, leading fans to think he could be an NBA player in the making.
Born in May 2024, Caius Chai’s name means ‘rejoice’ (Caius) in Latin, and ‘life’ (Chai) in Hebrew. Ayesha and the Warriors star had reportedly planned the pregnancy in a way that their youngest would come before the NBA All-Time Three-Point Leader would have to head to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.
What is Ayesha Curry’s Net Worth?
Ayesha Curry’s net worth stands at an impressive $50 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, independent of her husband’s assets, which Forbes estimates at $105.8 million. A significant portion of Ayesha’s wealth stems from her successful culinary empire, which includes a restaurant chain, multiple cookbooks, and hosting her own cooking shows like Ayesha’s Home Kitchen and Family Food Fight.
She’s also been a judge on Chopped Junior and Guy’s Grocery Games, launched her lifestyle brand Sweet July, and co-founded the Napa Valley wine brand Domaine Curry. In 2023, Constellation acquired Domaine Curry in a deal reportedly worth low eight figures, adding significantly to her net worth.
Does Ayesha Curry have her own line of restaurants?
Acting and charity work are certainly key aspects of Ayesha Curry’s life. Yet, nothing rivals her true passion and standout skill: cooking. What began as a simple passion project saw her releasing over 80 YouTube videos on food and lifestyle, with tutorials for dishes like ham and cheese waffles. Today, that passion has evolved into a full-fledged culinary empire, complete with her line of restaurant chains.

In 2017, Ayesha Curry partnered with celebrity chef Michael Mina to launch International Smoke, a restaurant chain that showcases their unique take on dishes like wood-fired steaks, seafood, ribs, and vegetarian entrees. After its November launch, International Smoke garnered such popularity that reservations were fully booked until February! Currently, the restaurant has two locations: one in Las Vegas and the other in Ayesha’s hometown of San Francisco.
Is Ayesha Curry the author of her own cookbooks?
Being so passionate about food, Ayesha Curry would have been remiss if she hadn’t penned down her findings to spread the word far and wide. She released her first cookbook, The Seasoned Life, in 2016. The cover in itself, which features Ayesha facing the camera while Steph is in the background playing with the couple’s child, would be enough to make anyone pick up the book. The same reportedly contains over 100 of Ayesha’s chosen recipes. They vary from Cast Iron Biscuits, and Smoked Salmon Scramble, to Homemade Granola, Mom’s Chicken Soup, and a dish termed as ‘Stephen’s 5 Ingredient Pasta’. Knowing the love that the NBA star has for pasta, which is also a part of his diet, we can be sure that it is as healthy as pasta can be allowed to be.
Having found the process of simply writing the book grueling, Ayesha attempted to provide simple instructions through the book that would help in creating something beautiful and approachable by anyone.
“It’s for the girl who is going to college, or the auntie that has never cooked a day in her life. Stephen doesn’t cook and every time he finishes a dish he’s in disbelief. I’ve really tried to simplify the recipes to make it fun and easy,” said Ayesha in an interview with Forbes.

Four years later, Ayesha came out with her second book, titled ‘The Full Plate’. Just like her first release, The New York Times included the cookbook in its Bestseller list. Furthermore, upon launch, NPR also included ‘The Full Plate’ in its ‘Best of the year list’, along with Amazon Kindle’s ranking of ‘Best Cookbooks of 2020’.
While always standing behind Stephen Curry as he continues to make an addition to his NBA legacy, Ayesha Curry has also created a own life for herself outside the basketball. From four wonderful children to a culinary empire, her life is the dream that so many people could only strive to live.
