Did Chris Miles cross the line, or was Sam Mitchell too sensitive about his salary joke?

On a recent segment of NBA TV, Sam Mitchell found himself in a heated exchange with host Chris Miles. The conversation started when Mitchell was asked about Warriors coach Steve Kerr not receiving a gold medal for coaching the USA men’s Olympic team. Mitchell laughed, noting how little international play values coaches.

Then Miles lightheartedly jabbed at Mitchell’s salary, saying, “I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show. Maybe you should do this pro-bono, my friend!” What was meant as a playful tease quickly escalated. Mitchell, visibly annoyed, responded, “Last time I looked at my check, it’s pretty close. So, hey, I’m taking donations. Why don’t you come up on some of that money you got since you’re over there bragging about it?”

“I’m sorry, did you rip your beach house down at Florida during the hurricane? How about your townhouse over at Buckhead? You wanna call me out? I mean, come on! … I know what you have and where you live, young fellow. … You gonna stop messing with me on national TV. Hey, do I need to give out the address cause you’re not at home right now?” Mitchell remarked.
