“I wanna win.” Rome Flynn had only one goal in mind as he entered the arena for tonight’s NBA All-Star Celebrity game. Part of Team Bonds, coached by rapper 2 Chainz and baseball legend Barry Bonds, Flynn was okay with letting his teammates run the show. However, he issued a stern warning to his opponents, “Imma be real chill unless somebody pokes the bear.” Well, it looks like someone did poke the bear as Rome dropped 22 points and eight rebounds, leading his team to victory and taking home the MVP trophy. But although he looked like a real hooper tonight, playing basketball is not his full-time job.
Yes, Flynn is in fact a world-renowned actor and model, starring in several popular shows, including How to Get Away with Murder, With Love, and Raising Dion. Not only that, he also bagged a Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series seven years ago. That was for his performance in The Bold and the Beautiful.
While acting remains his strong suit, Rome has been passionate about basketball since he was a kid. Born in Chicago the same year Michael Jordan won his first NBA title, Flynn grew up around the hoop culture and fell in love with it instantly. Turns out, he played for Lanphier High School and even received a basketball scholarship to attend Benedictine University. He might even have pursued that route, but Flynn got discovered by a talent scout, and his social media following grew massively as a runway model.

Then, he got his big break in 2014 in the movie Drumline: A New Beat. And he never looked back. Although Rome is not married, the actor of Afro-Cuban and Irish heritage has a daughter named Kimiko, who was born the same year Drumline was released. Well, Kimiko would surely be proud of her father tonight as he outshined stars like Kai Cenat and Druski.
Druski and Kai Cenat did NOT look happy with Rome Flynn’s MVP Win!
History repeats itself. It was only last year that Kai Cenat became a viral meme as he stood with a furious look on his face while Micah Parsons received his MVP honors for the Celebrity Game. Unfortunately, this year was no different. As Flynn walked up to lift the trophy, Kai was standing right next to him and kept staring at the award and side-eyeing the actor throughout his acceptance speech. Funnily enough, he was not alone. Kai’s streaming partner, Druski, was on the other side doing the same thing, likely furious at missing out on the award.

What’s your perspective on:
Did Rome Flynn just prove he's more than an actor by outshining Kai Cenat and Druski?
Have an interesting take?
Well, it was unlikely that either one of them would have taken the trophy home as both celebs finished with single-digit scores. Meanwhile, Rome was unbothered by Druski and Kai’s antics, and was grateful for the moment, “Shoutout to my teammates man. They were looking for me. Before the game they said ‘We want you to get the MVP.’ I’m a selfless guy, I just wanna win. And they put the ball in my hands… This is amazing. It’s incredible. This is going next to every award I ever got for sure.”
Turns out, the shiny MVP crystal ball could sit right next to Rome’s Emmy award in his trophy cabinet at home. Meanwhile, Kai and Druski will likely begin preparing for a better showing next year. What was your favorite moment in tonight’s All-Star Celebrity Game?
