Despite being a well-regarded prospect coming out of college, Olivari went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. That changed soon though when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA Summer League the same year. Afterward, on August 14, 2024, he signed an Exhibit 10 contract with them.

Olivari managed to impress the Lakers enough in the preseason to have the aforementioned contract converted into a two-way deal on October 19. However, after making just two regular-season appearances for them, Quincy was waived by the Lakers on January 15, 2025. Such a turn of events must be disheartening for the youngster, no?

Quincy Olivari spent four years playing college basketball. Three of those four were spent at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He was third in Conference USA, averaging 18.7 points, and also third in C-USA with 94 three-pointers. His record of 94 three-pointers is the second-best in his school’s history. But that’s not all. The 654 points he scored for the Owls put him in fifth place for the most in a season.

In his solitary year with Xavier University in Cincinnati, Olivari appeared in 34 games. He improved his points average from Rice, with 19.1 points per game. Quincy also secured 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, playing an average of 32.2 minutes. His 40.9% three-point accuracy made him the leader for that stat in the Big East. And Olivari was voted as a Big East Honorable Mention for his efforts.

Olivari managed to get a lot done in his short time with the Lakers. As we said earlier, his story has a lot of ups and downs. So while he could not secure a permanent deal with the Lakers, he secured a sneaker deal. And this deal is with none other than his childhood hero’s Curry Brand, which is overseen by Under Armour.

This deal stipulates that Olivari will exclusively don basketball shoes from the Curry Brand on the court. Additionally, he will also serve as a brand ambassador for the brand offcourt. “As we continue to build out our elite roster of athletes at Curry Brand, we’re adding dynamic players such as Quincy Olivari who will give us more versatility in the sneaker and performance space,” said Stephen Curry about this deal with Olivari.

It all stems from the modicum of internet fame Olivari managed to gain after going viral last year. As Bronny James was being interviewed, LeBron James walked over to and stood beside Olivari.

Not missing a beat, the youngster handed his phone to a staff member, posing for a quick picture with the King. The clip spread on the internet like wildfire, amassing 43.8 million shares on SportsCenter’s X account. Olivari then capitalized on this with the LeBron picture having the caption, “Who is #41?” And that’s how Olivari managed to go viral with just one picture.
