After cutting Liam Roberts, the Milwaukee Bucks acted quickly to sign big man Pete Nance to a two-way contract per Shams Charania.  Standing at 6-foot-10 and weighing 225 lbs, Nance will be a great addition to the Bucks’ frontcourt. The Bucks are now officially out of two-way contract spots.

Is Pete Nance the brother of Larry Nance Jr. from the Atlanta Hawks?

The latest signee for the Milwaukee Bucks, Pete Nance, is the son of former NBA All-Star Larry Nance. Atlanta Hawks veteran Larry Nance Jr. is Pete’s older brother. However, his brother and father share some common ground that Pete has yet to reach.

His brother and his father both spent some time playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Larry Nance Sr. spent six years with the Cavs. And he managed to accomplish quite a lot in his six years at the Club. He was an All-Star in 1989 and 1993. Nance also made the NBA All-Defensive team in 1989. The Cavs honored him with one of the highest possible accolades for an NBA player when they retired his jersey number, 22.

Larry Nance Jr. also played for the Cavaliers from 2018 to 2021 in an attempt to replicate his dad‘s career path. He became the first player since his father to wear the number 22 jersey for the Cavs. Isn’t that poetic? But what about Pete? Has he played for the Cavs? Let’s find out

Has Pete Nance played in the NBA before? A look into his professional career

Pete Nance went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, but you’d be crazy to believe that deterred him one bit. He remained committed to becoming an NBA player and signed with the Cleveland Charge in the NBA’s G-League to keep grinding towards the top

What’s your perspective on:

Can Pete Nance finally break the cycle and make a lasting impact with the Milwaukee Bucks?

Have an interesting take?

His efforts soon paid off when he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a 10-day contract, now the third member of the Nance family to play for the Cavs. However, his tenure with the Cavs wasn’t nearly as long as the others in his family. He signed a regular contract with them in September 2024, but the club waived him soon after in October. Thus, Pete went back to playing in the G-League for the Charge.

A little over a year later, the NBA came calling for Pete once more. This time, it was the Philadelphia 76ers, and Pete signed a two-way contract with them. But the trend of him getting waived would continue, and he’d return to the G-League once more. You’d think he’d have learned his lesson by now, but the same thing repeated a week later when he signed another two-way contract with the Sixers. But they waived him once again as part of the Jared Butler trade.

He remained without an NBA club for a few weeks until now, when the Bucks signed him to his latest two-way contract. But let’s change our focus for a second to find out about Pete Nance’s background.

Where is Pete Nance from? What is his nationality?

Born on February 19, 2000, Pete is the youngest son of the aforementioned Larry Nance Jr. Born six years after his father’s 1994 retirement, Nance plied his trade as a high school baller at Revere High School. This is the same school his older sister Casey played at.

Born on American soil, Pete Nance, like his family, is also a red-blooded American. And there’s no doubt that like most American basketball players, he too wishes to win gold for Team USA one day. But is that in the cards for him? Since the sample size provided by his NBA career is too small, let’s have a look at Pete’s college career.

Which college did Pete Nance attend?

Pete Nance committed to playing for the Northwestern Wildcats men’s basketball team in the 2018-19 season. But there was no dearth of suitors for young Nance, Ohio State, and Michigan being the foremost. But it seems Pete just wasn’t interested in playing for them. He didn’t exactly set the world on fire in his four years at NorthWestern, though. Nance averaged only 9.2 points for the Wildcats.

Unlike most players, Pete Nance actually attended two different schools. And he has the COVID-19 pandemic to thank for this since it allowed him an extra year of college eligibility. In 2022, he joined the North Carolina Tar Heels, the national runners-up from the year prior. He became an immediate starter for them and an integral part of their rotation. However, his time here was no different from his prior college. Pete only averaged 10 points per game in his solitary season in North Carolina.
