Y’all would have heard about Miriam Adelson, right? The fifth richest woman on the planet, the widow of Sheldon Adelson? Doesn’t ring a bell? Well, how about the owners of the Dallas Mavericks? Yup! I see those cogs turning in your heads. In December 2024, Mark Cuban sold the ownership to the Adelson family—multi-billionaire owners of the Las Vegas Sands casino corporation.
Of course, the 66-year-old is a minority owner, holding 27% of ownership. But unfortunately, even the say he was supposed to have didn’t work when it came to the shocking Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade. Right … more than enough has been said about that. So, why don’t we focus on our topic at hand, which is Sivan Ochshorn?
Who is the wife of Dallas Mavericks’ owner Patrick Dumont? What’s her relationship with Miriam Adelson?

Now, before we go straight to Ochshorn, we just need to take a short detour. And that is Patrick Dumont. You might recognize him as the guy standing on the 2024 Western Conference Championship podium.

Dumont is the COO of Sands Corp, having risen to the position in 2021, prior to which he worked as the CFO in 2016. Before all this, though, the 50-year-old married Sivan Ochshorn, one of Miriam Adelson’s daughters from her first marriage, in 2009. He then went on to become a principal financial advisor of the Adelson empire before steadily rising in the ranks. And that’s how Patrick Dumont is related to the Adelson family.
Sivan, for her part, runs an Israeli newspaper called Israel Hayom, one of the fragments of the Sands Casino Mogul. Israeli Hayom is one of the leading newspapers in the world, primarily catering to the Israel settlements in the Middle East. According to Fortune, this free daily has a strong right-wing leaning and “stridently” supportive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
It’s a shared political leaning that she picked up from her mother, Miriam Adelson. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Adelsons Family Foundation supports the cause of Holocaust and anti-Semitism awareness; advocacy and defense of Israel; Jewish and Zionist identity and education; and Israel studies on college campuses.
Now that we know a bit about Sivan Ochshorn, let’s move on to her mother, the matriarch of the empire, to know more about the family.
The story of Miriam Adelson
One of the richest and most powerful women in the world was born in Israel to Polish refugees in 1945, three years before the country was officially formed. She pursued in the medical field and became a Physician before beginning her journey to America. Upon reaching the States, Miriam continued her work and training as a substance abuse treatment specialist at New York’s Rockefeller University.
Years later, she met Sheldon Adelson on a blind date and the couple got married in 1991. It was around the same time when Sheldon purchased the Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, which ultimately went on to become the base of the billion-dollar empire. Moreover, she rose to fame because of her support of the Republican Party.
In 2012, she made her debut presence at the campaign finance stage, supporting the Republican presidential candidate, Newt Gingrich, and also donated $5 million. Speaking to the Fortune magazine at the time, she said, “We are in full agreement on the causes we support, whether they are helpless people, drug addicts or young people looking for roots in Israel. We don’t have arguments or long discussions; it’s quite a fast discussion bearing in mind our common values.”

Later in 2016, Miriam, along with her husband, donated $10 million to Donald Trump in his race to the White House. Moreover, in 2018, the then-POTUS presented the Medal of Freedom for her work as a committed doctor, philanthropist, and humanitarian.
With a career rooted in medicine and a life that shifted toward political influence and billion-dollar business deals, she has shaped the legacy of the Adelson family. But what truly stands out is how her empire is woven with the lives of those closest to her—like her daughter, Sivan Ochshorn, and son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, who now sits at the heart of this expanding dynasty.
The Adelsons are no strangers to power and influence, but beyond the glitz of the Las Vegas Sands and the headlines, theirs is a story of family—one that stretches from Israel to Dallas, from politics to basketball. So, while Sivan may not take center stage at a Mavericks game or headline news like her mother, she’s undeniably part of the narrative shaping this empire’s next chapter. And with Patrick Dumont at the helm of both business and basketball, it’s clear that this family’s story is far from over.

It’s no coincidence that the Mavericks have become a family business—it’s just how the Adelsons operate: tightly connected, globally influential, and always leaving their mark.
