Michael Porter Jr., the powerhouse of his team, the Denver Nuggets, is in the news for pretty weird reasons. A difference maker for the Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr. was born on June 29, 1998, in Columbia, Missouri. He comes from a family with a rich basketball pedigree. His father, Michael Porter Sr. was also a basketball player for the University of Iowa before deciding to pursue coaching full time. In fact, his mother, Lisa Porter, too was a pro basketball player. She was an Iowa Hawkeyes starter from 1983 to 1987, enjoying a pretty successful run in France. With such heritage, it comes as no surprise Porter Jr.’s credibility and zeal to win on the hardwood floor.

Porter Jr was a five-star recruit in his high school. Then, he played a season at the University of Missouri. After which, he was drafted as the 14th overall pick by the Nuggets in 2018. Since then, he has been a crucial element for his team, even winning a championship with them last year.

He spent his junior and sophomore years at Father Tolton Regional Catholic High School in Missouri. There, he led his team to the 2A State Championships. After that, he spent his senior year at Nathan Hale High School in Washington, where he assisted the basketball team to win the Class 3A State Championship.

Then in 2017, he attended the Nike Hoop Summit and the McDonald’s All-American Game, where he was awarded the MVP. But then, after making his college debut at the University of Missouri, he suffered an injury in his lower back. He had miss the remainder of that season, and he only returned after a microdiscectomy in L3 and L4 discs.
In March 2018, after participating in the SEC and NCAA Division I tournaments, and declared his intentions to let go of his college eligibility to go forth with NBA drafts. Post the drafts, he’s been a significant part of the Denver Nuggets, with an estimated contract worth $15,093,095. He signed a contract extension with the team worth $179,299,750.

As of April 2024, Michael Porter Jr is not dating anyone. He finds it difficult to find the right woman to date. He was dating a few women before, including Madison Prewett and Madison Pettis, an actress from Arlington. Pettis and Porter Jr. dated from 2016 through 2017.
