Michael Malone’s wife, Jocelyn Malone née Cole, was born on May 21, 1974, in Canterbury, N.H. She is an alumnus of Belmont High School and later enrolled at Providence College. In her college days, Mrs. Malone suited up for the volleyball team and played for 4 years. She became an all-time school record holder with 346 blocks! With Jocelyn on the squad, the Friars’ women’s volleyball club posted an 84-52 win-loss card.
After college in 1996, Malone chose to become a schoolteacher instead of pursuing volleyball. Sources say she had a successful college career, but she shifted paths. However, the details of which school she taught at remain unknown. Amidst her studies and passion for volleyball, there was something special brewing quietly. Michael Malone met young Jocelyn Cole when he was part of Providence College’s coaching staff. The duo dated for 4 years and later decided to take their relationship to the next level.
Jocelyn Cole graduated college in 1996, and in 1998, the couple decided to take the vows and tie the knot. And well, it’s been 25 years of their lovely married life. Nothing much has changed between them, except the support and love seem to have taken new heights!
Michael Malone’s wife can often be seen in the stands during the Nuggets games. Meanwhile, coach Malone sometimes gives his fans something to laugh about, by making his couple-life encounters public. Last season when the Nuggets lost their 82nd regular season game, but still topped in the West, Michael took the situation sportingly. In return, Jocelyn took matters in hand and roasted the HC. In an interview later, Michael revealed, “[She told me] it would’ve been a lot better if you guys got it with a win. She’s my ex-wife now.” So, their banter doesn’t seem to end at all. This just adds to their beautiful relationship, solidifying their existence in each other’s lives.
Mike Malone’s daughters are more interested in volleyball!
While we are talking about coach Mike and his wife, how can we miss their children? Their lovely daughters Caitlin and Bridget have taken after their mother. Both girls are equally competitive but have an inclination towards volleyball- at least for Caitlin, who attended Mountain Vista High School, her world has revolved around volleyball since she was 6, and surely, Dad, Michael Malone doesn’t mind this even for once. Coach Mike often makes it a point to attend his daughter’s college events, which is a sweet gesture.

After graduating, the outside hitter plied her trade at Elevation Volleyball Club 17 Peak. Because, amidst the NBA’s tight schedule, finding time for one’s family might appear like a mammoth task. Her team won the USA Volleyball Girls 16 National Championship, and Michael Malone’s daughter was named the MVP!
Michael Malone is handling the best of both worlds perfectly. We will surely see more of Jocelyn Cole and the couple’s two daughters in the stands. After all, their husband and dad would be on the sideline, guiding Nikola Jokic & Co. to win the games they’ll undertake.
After winning the 2023 Championship, amidst all the celebrations, Michael Malone didn’t forget to thank his family for everything. “My mother was very emotional. She was so mad because she couldn’t be here in the arena,” said Malone, his smile acknowledging the feisty DNA his mother passed along to him. “I told her: ‘Ma, you were here. You are right here, in my heart.’”
