Born on November 3, 1994, Mai comes from a diverse background with Irish and Jamaican parents. Although born in London, she soon moved to New York City with her mother. She studied at Queens High School in Glen Oaks as a teenager and graduated. But being a Londoner by heart, Mai moved back to her native land and began her musical journey in 2014, participating in the 11 season of X Factor. Well, at the time, she was not a solo act as she auditioned alongside two other singers in a group called ‘Arize’.

But soon going her separate way, Ella rose to superstardom with her 2018 self-titled album as the song “Boo’d Up” topped the charts, even leading to multiple Grammy nominations for the artist. Sure enough, Ella bagged her maiden Grammy, a year later, for the best R&B song. And she expressed her excitement in an interview right after, “I’m like speechless right now. I don’t even know what to say.” Amid scaling the highway to success, Ella ran into Jayson Tatum along the way.

Jayson Tatum and Ella Mai’s rumored relationship

When you think about it, it seems like Jayson Tatum and Ella Mai come from two different worlds. So, how did their dating rumors begin? Well, it all started when the two were spotted together at JT’s residence in 2020. Tracing back the footsteps, Tatum also flew all the way to Baltimore a year earlier to attend Mai’s show, and the singer reciprocated the gesture by attending a Celtics game. Although they maintain a low profile and have never publicly acknowledged their relationship, they’ve been spotted together on several occasions.

Well, their first public appearance was two years ago at Michael Rubin’s ever-famous White Party that takes place every 4th of July. Then, Mai also accompanied Tatum to his former teammate Marcus Smart’s wedding in California. Moreover, what added more fuel to the rumors was that they wore matching green outfits and were even seen dancing to Ella’s song “Boo’d Up” at the wedding.

Not surprising at all, Jayson Tatum also attended the singer’s 29 birthday party in New York and even played a game of musical chairs, the video of which went viral on social media. However, their most recent sighting together was during the Celtics’ Championship celebration last month, which even sparked rumors of Ella Mai being pregnant with Tatum’s child as she appeared to have a baby bump in one of the clicked pictures. But there has been no confirmation yet.
