Jaylen Brown's new romance—Is it a distraction or a boost for his game?

Jaylen Brown has been making headlines all this summer! From leading the Boston Celtics to an impressive 18th championship victory, winning the finals MVP honors to launching his sportswear brand 741. With such accolades, it’s not a surprise that his fans are curious to know about his personal life. So, who is the lucky person that has captured his heart?

In July 2024, Brown shook the basketball world with his relationship status. He walked the red carpet at the ESPY Awards with WNBA free agent Kysre Gondrezick. The couple stunned in matching black outfits—Gondrezick’s lace dress perfectly complemented Brown’s elevated suit. But this wasn’t the first time she was seen with him. She was seen cheering him during the Celtics’ championship run just a month before the awards.  However, at the awards, Brown received the award for the best championship performance.  Despite the award, all eyes were on his “beautiful date”. But who is Kysre and what’s her identity in the basketball world?

Born on  July 27, 1997, Kysre comes from a family of athletes. Her father, Grant Gondrezick, was a Suns player, and her mother, Lisa Harvey led Louisiana Tech to a national championship. Her sister, Kalabrya Gondrezick is also a basketball player and plays for the Chicago Sky. She has a younger brother, Grant Gondrezick Jr. who is an aspiring basketball player.

The Indiana Fever drafted her fourth overall in 2021. Although starting her career with high expectations, the Fevers waived her. In January 2022 she joined the Chicago Sky. But her hopes were crushed again, as the Sky also waived her. Yet, after two years of brief hiatus, she returned to the Sky for their 2024 training camp. On May 14, she successfully made herself to the roster on the Opening day. However, on June 28, 2024, the team released her for the second time, causing another setback for her.

However, before her romance with Brown, Kysre was linked to Kevin Porter Jr. This name might ring a bell among basketball fans. This past relationship had its ups and downs, but it ultimately set the stage for her current connection with Brown.

Have an interesting take?

Kysre Gondrezick had a challenging period in her relationship with Kevin Porter Jr. The situation escalated in September 2023 when Porter was arrested after police responded to a 911 call from their hotel room. Officers found Kysre with lacerations to her face and a fractured neck vertebra, leading to charges of assault against Porter Jr.

However, Kysre has consistently denied the allegations, stating that the incident was blown out of proportion. In an exclusive interview, she told the New York Post, “He didn’t hit me. He never balled his fists up and hit me.” She argued that their argument lasted “for not even 10 seconds,” asserting that prosecutors were pushing a “false narrative.”

The court proceedings concluded in January 2024, when Porter reached a plea deal, admitting guilt to misdemeanor, assault, and harassment violation. His attorneys emphasized that the resolution would allow him to move forward without a criminal record, claiming the case involved “false felony allegations and false facts.” As part of the deal, Porter completed a 26-week Abusive Partner Intervention Program and maintained a limited order of protection.

For him, this resulted in a trade from the Houston Rockets to the Oklahoma City Thunder. But soon the Thunder waived him back. However, he is now back with the LA Clippers on a two-year deal. As she found love with Jaylen Brown, her journey illustrates her strength, proving that even in the face of adversity, new beginnings can emerge, paving the way for a brighter future alongside Brown.
