Who is Grant Hill’s wife Tamia? How did they meet?
Grant Hill, on his 25th wedding anniversary, wrote, “25 years ago, we said ‘I Do.’ 25 years later, we still say ‘I Do,” to his wife, Tamia Hill, posting a throwback video from their wedding. With so much love for each other, let’s look into their story.
The former Orlando Magic hooper first met his wife in 1996, thanks to a well-meaning introduction from a mutual friend—Grammy-winning singer Anita Baker. It happened at the Soul Train Music Awards, where Anita approached Tamia with a bold statement: “I know the perfect man for you.” At that time, Tamia was living in Canada, not particularly looking for love, but Anita’s insistence planted a seed. The two didn’t immediately meet, but fate had something else in store.
Six months later, she found herself in Los Angeles for a talent show. There, she happened to run into some of his friends. Soon after, the two were introduced, and for Hill, it was an instant connection. He later described it as “love at first sight.” For her, it didn’t take long to feel the spark as well. From there, their bond only grew stronger, and their three-year courtship soon became one of the most enduring love stories in both the sports and music industries.

He opened up about the experience during a 2023 appearance on the Tamron Hall Show, sharing how he witnessed Tamia’s incredible strength. “When you see a loved one, a family member, a wife, struggle, that’s tough. She inspired me. Not only is she overcoming it, but she fought. She resumed her career, she’s an incredible mother, you know she’s active, it’s like you forget that she has this.” For Grant, watching Tamia push through her diagnosis was deeply inspiring.
