Good things don’t last forever. And this rang true recently when 95.7 The Game mainstay, Bonta Hill. He stepped down from his position as the host of The Morning Roast to start a new endeavor. Bonta Hill has now taken a full-time role as a multi-platform host for NBA Sports Bay Area. But what will his new role entail? And what about his role covering the Golden State Warriors? Let’s jump straight into those queries.
Who is Bonta Hill? How is he associated with the Golden State Warriors?
Growing up as a fan of the sports teams in San Francisco, Bonta Hill was always ready to discuss sports, even unprompted. But did you know that Hill wanted to be a writer when he was growing up? However, this changed once he joined the San Francisco State University, where he was exposed to working as a sports broadcaster on radio. Hill found his calling through this medium as it favored his innate ability to talk sports.

A few years later, a meeting with legendary radio host and announcer, Greg Papa led to Hill joining Greg on his mid-day show. However, on the horizon of three years as a duo, Papa left the show to become the San Francisco 49ers’ new radio play-by-play announcer. This nearly ended up stalling Hill’s radio career if not for the station’s program director, Matt Nahigan.
The man who Hills credits as being his “best boss,” allowed him to host the Morning Roast alongside Joe Shasky and Kate Scott, although she departed the show after the first year. And Hill hosted the morning show ever since before undertaking his latest endeavor at NBC Sports Bay Area.
But the Morning Roast wasn’t the only way Hill covered San Francisco sports. Since joining NBC Sports Bay Area in 2020, Hill hosted the Warriors Pregame Live and Warriors Postgame Live shows. He will continue this role after becoming a full-time employee at NBC Sports Bay Area. But what else does his role entail now? Let’s see.
What is Bonta Hills’ new role with the NBC Sports Bay Area?
Bonta Hill now has additional responsibilities as a full-time employee for NBC Sports Bay Area. As mentioned previously, he was their host for the Warriors Pregame Live and Warriors Postgame Live shows. But now, Hill will also serve as the co-host for the Dubs Talk podcast, alongside insider Monte Pool.

Hill will also provide additional gameday coverage for the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers. “What I’m looking forward to is continuing to grow what we already have going on with the Warriors Pre and Postgame show. And hopefully, I can bring that energy across all platforms when it comes to digital, the Giants, the Niners, and in a new workplace where it’s going to challenge me to be better.” This was what Hill said about what excited him most about his new role at NBC.
As a San Francisco native, it’s clear that Hill is extremely passionate about the Bay Area’s sports team. And we can see it on display every time Bonta Hill talks about sports. It’s going to be great seeing Hill doing what he loves, now across platforms. And we’re certainly looking forward to seeing him bring his A-game!
