Who Has Reached 10,000 Career Points Faster Than Luka Doncic?

The Dallas Mavericks are facing off against the Phoenix Suns tonight. They are in the second quarter now (at the time of writing), and Luka Doncic has already made history. All he needed tonight was 11 points to hit the 10,000 mark before he would become the fastest active player to reach that milestone.

With just 4:52 remaining in the first quarter, Doncic landed a three-pointer, subsequently giving the Mavs a double-digit lead in the process. With 10,000 career points, he has now passed reigning MVP, Joel Embiid, by a 61 game-difference. Embiid was the fastest with 419 games and now, Luka reached the same in just 358 games.

But that’s not all. While Luka Doncic might be the fastest active player, he still has a few predecessors who have reached the same milestone in fewer games. From Chamberlain to Bob McAdoo, Luka Doncic has his name carved once more amongst the greats.

McAdoo and Doncic are tied to reaching 10,000 points in the 7th fewest games in the history of the NBA. Just one of those days for Luka. But, every Doncic fan will know that a famed NBA career isn’t exactly in his books.

Luka Doncic still sticks to his secondary career option

Earlier in the year, the Slovenian superstar had reiterated his future aspirations. When talking to the media last Christmas; the Mavs had just unveiled a giant statue in honor of thir legend, Dirk Nowtitzki, Doncic had mentioned in passing that he has plans for owning a farm in Slovenia.

And now, he still sticks to the plan. Doncic had said that though he does not have a farm in his name now, he was intent on getting one in the near future. In fact, he was even learning the basics of farming from a friend back home. Clearly, players like Doncic and Nikola Jokic are cut from a similar cloth in terms of interests.

Luka’s dream was made even more apparent with his farm-themed sneakers prior to the Suns game. He added to the whole goofiness with a comical run to the locker room, chanting, “I’m fast.”
