Kevin Durant in a Team USA uniform is a sight to behold. Coming into the Olympics, the Slim Reaper was chasing a fourth straight gold medal. It will make him the most decorated men’s basketball player in history. While doing so, he had already held the record for the most points scored for Team USA at the Olympics.

But now, he has added another accolade to his loaded national team resume. During the game against South Sudan, one of Kevin Durant’s four rebounds made him the all-time rebounding leader for Team USA in Olympic history. He surpassed none other than Carmelo Anthony, one of the most iconic superstars, to grace the Olympic stage. In 31 career games, Melo had pulled down 125 rebounds at the Olympics.

Now, the record stands in the name of Kevin Durant. Notably, Durant also surpassed Carmelo Anthony for the all-time points record during his 2020 Olympics stint. Tonight, in Team USA’s domineering defeat of Puerto Rico, Durant climbed ahead of Sergi Belov in the Olympic’s all-time scoring list, moving to 8th, behind Argentina’s Manu Ginobili.

But there is only one record Kevin Durant might want to be known for. That’s the man with the most gold medals. Judging from Team USA’s demolition of Puerto Rico, it seems the Slim Reaper has a great chance of claiming another token of USA basketball history very soon.
