Mark Oluwafemi Williams was born on December 16, 2001, in Norfolk, Virginia, and has had a unique and inspiring journey. While much of his life has been shared with fans via social media, information about his parents remains relatively private.

While other hoopsters often have either of their parents with a relevant basketball background, Mark Williams doesn’t. So here it is: his father is Dr. Alex Williams, specializing in Gastroenterology. His expertise showcases a commitment to medicine and helping others. Having a father who works in a demanding profession likely taught Mark discipline and resilience.

Who are Mark Williams’ siblings? How many does he have?

Mark Williams has two older sisters, Victoria and Elizabeth. While information about Victoria is not known because she, too, prefers to stay out of the limelight, it’s not the case with Elizabeth. She was born on June 23, 1993, and is a standout basketball player.

So Mark has competition inside the family itself! Her story begins in the UK, as she was born in Colchester, Essex, England. But, some years later, her parents immigrated to the US. And, that is where she was introduced to the game of basketball, at the age of 9.

It was Elizabeth’s family friends, who told her parents to enroll her for basketball. And when she gave it a try, she blew everyone’s mind with her height and athletic potential! A few years passed by, and she found herself joining an AAU team, where she became a leading player! As a result, she was even selected for the inaugural USA Basketball U16 team in 2009.

Elizabeth played at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Women which was held in Mexico City, and don’t be surprised as she was the 2nd-highest scorer, with 13.4 points per game. Did you know she won Gold? Yes! Further, in the U17 & U19 World Championships, she led Team USA to glory, again.

Let’s talk about Elizabeth’s college days. She attended Duke from 2011 to 2015. And there she became one of the most decorated players in their history. The 4 years, she spent with the Devils, were her golden days. She averaged 14.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and a huge 3.1 blocks per game. It led to her winning 4 consecutive ACC DPOY awards. She also won the prestigious National DPOY title in her senior year, after having 426 shots in her career. Well, a pure family competitor to Mark Williams, indeed.

Talking about her WNBA, she rose through the ranks in 2015 when she was drafted 4th overall by the Connecticut Sun. After some initial struggles, she was traded to the Atlanta Dream. There, she had a breakthrough year, winning the WNBA Most Improved Player award in 2016.
