The Minnesota Timberwolves‘ resident troublemaker, Anthony Edwards, is quite the personality. Both his style of play and antics when he’s not playing are extremely entertaining. Who is Anthony Edwards’ mother Yvette? What happened to her?
Chrisha Yvette Edwards, also known as Yvette Edwards, is Anthony Edwards’ mother and the woman who raised him till he was in the eighth grade. Well, not just her; Yvette’s mother also played a massive role in bringing up the Minnesota star.
However, things took a tragic turn when Ant was in the eighth grade. His mother was diagnosed with and would later pass away because of cancer on January 5, 2015. She was 43 at the time. And Edwards’ grandmother and Yvette’s mother took over the responsibility of raising him.

But life wasn’t done with young Anthony Edwards yet. Eight months later, while he was still mourning his mother’s loss, Ant’s grandmother also passed away from cancer. Like her daughter, she also died on the 5th of the month. And if you’ve ever wondered why Ant wears the no.5, it’s because of this. He even carried a picture of her and Yvette with himself on the night he was drafted.
Ant spoke very highly of the role his grandmother played in his life while growing up. “My grandma, she was like our backbone, she did everything for us. When we didn’t have money or lights and couldn’t pay the bills, she would always come through,” he said per FirstSportz. You may have even seen Ant using the hashtag “#DIFM2”. Well, it stands for “Do It Form Mom” and it refers to how everything he does is in reverence to the maternal figures he loved and lost growing up.

After their passing, Edwards was raised by his sister, Antoinette, and brother, Antoine. The pair of siblings shared legal custody of their youngest brother till he was old enough. But where was Anthony’s father amidst all this turmoil?
Who is Anthony Edwards’ father, Roger Caruth?

Sadly for Ant, this was where his father’s role in his upbringing ended. Roger did not play a significant role in his son’s upbringing and was out of the picture mostly. Even so, an absent father and the tragic losses of his mother and grandmother at such critical junctures in his life didn’t stop Anthony Edwards from becoming the electrifying, outgoing, and outspoken young man he is today.
Anthony Edwards’ story just goes to show that the quote from Rocky holds true even today. “It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward,” said Rocky Balboa. Anthony Edwards, an Olympic gold medalist with Team USA, is the personification of this iconic quote!
