Michael Jordan changed the shoe game forever after he signed with Nike. No one has ever come close to him when it comes to the popularity of a shoe line. If he is the GOAT of the NBA is up for debate, but there is no doubt that he is the GOAT of shoes. One other athlete who inked a deal with Nike was LeBron James, who was just in his rookie season. His shoes are not hot commodities like MJ, but they have still created a niche.

Like MJ and LBJ, Kyrie Irving rolled out Nike shoes too. But he has changed his trajectory and has gone in unprecedented directions.

James has been associated with Nike since 2003. His initial deal was a record-breaking seven-year $87 million worth. In recent years, he has taken an equity approach.

He receives millions each year and has earned an undisclosed amount so far.

In July 2023, Nike released his LeBron NXXT Next Gen “Green Shoes”. Retailing at $160, the shoes are gaining good traction from people. It is light-weight, breathable and a hit with sports enthusiasts.

The shoe is available in Green/Wolf Grey/Iron Grey/Black/White colors. Nike claims, “We specifically tailored it to meet the demands of today’s fast-paced game, so that you can stay ahead of the opposition with your speed and force in all directions.

On the other hand, Irving originally signed with Nike, and they unveiled his Kyrie 1 shoes in December 2014. After that, multiple shoe lines dropped. However, in December 2022, Nike dropped Kyrie Irving after deeming his certain posts as antisemitic.

Therefore, the Guard took to China’s market. He signed the deal with the highest revenue-generating sports equipment brand Anta.

So, how does the latest Anta-infused shoe line compare to LeBron NXXT shoes?

Kyrie Irving with a different approach

The Kyrie Irving x Anta Shock Wave 5 Pro is the latest shoe release. Surprisingly, it costs more than the Nike LeBron NXXT Gen shoes. These shoes cost $139 more, retailing at $299.99. Built using nitrogen technology, the shoe comes in black, split green, and white colors.

The shoe doesn’t simply meet athletic needs; it also makes for good daily wear. However, the price tag ensures that James’ shoe is a more affordable deal.
