Instead of leading the 76ers‘ offense, Joel Embiid has been leading the injury report so far in the season. After playing only four games from his delayed debut to the season, the big man again lodged in injury land, dealing with his knee injury. Amid this situation, the IR added that the Cameroonian baller had another personal reason for extending his stay off the court. The birth of his son Arthur changed his perspective toward the game, and now, he is rumored to welcome his second child with his wife, Anne de Paula.
Last season, the Philadelphia star suffered a knee swelling and went through a surgical procedure. Following that, the team has kept him under injury management, giving him time to recover. Moreover, the Sixers’ coach, Nick Nurse, speaking of the latest injury, as Embiid missed four straight games since his return, said, “The swelling’s gone down a bit… Still some soreness there. That’s about all I can say.” The update did nothing but hinted further delay on the big man’s return.
Next up, the Sixers take on the Hornets on Tuesday and it will be Joel Embiid‘s 5th straight miss. Ahead of the game, the team listed Embiid out in the injury report not only citing the knee injury but also a personal reason. An X post cited the big man’s latest announcement of he and his wife expecting their first daughter at ‘Semafor’s The Next 3 Billion’ conference and rumored that his daughter’s birth could be the personal reason.

Have to wonder if personal reasons being listed on Joel’s injury report recently is because of his daughter’s birth.

Well, there isn’t any clarity to back this claim. But we can say another big man missed games for the same reason. Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic missed three games in a row this season, citing personal reasons. After his return, it was revealed he had gone for the birth of his second child. Maybe Embiid would make an announcement later.
