Just two games ago when the Golden State Warriors faced the Clippers, Draymond Green was among the absences. The defensive juggernaut had back issues that kept him out, but he marked a quick return. Green returned against the Suns, spotlessly guarding Kevin Durant on the final possession of an enthralling game. However, tonight, against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it seems like another injury concern reared its ugly head.
The Bay was already battered by the Cavaliers team that holds the best record in the NBA. However, things might get worse as Green apparently went to the back with physiotherapist Rick Celebrini during the third quarter. According to Anthony Irwin, Draymond Green didn’t display any discomfort during the game.
Draymond Green to the back with Rick Celebrini late 3Q. Came out at his normal rest time and didn’t see anything in particular, but he’s been banged up. Probably shouldn’t see him again. Warriors down 26.

But he does claim the 34-year-old is “banged up,” likely due to the towering Cavaliers front court he was needed to guard all night. Green had to constantly assignments between Mobley, Allen, and Dean Wade. Each of them has at least a 3-inch advantage on the Warriors veteran and plays with tremendous force inside the paint.
For Draymond Green, it was a night of struggles trying to find a way around the compact and settled Cleveland defense. He only shot 1-10 for the game thus far. However, his heart knows no quit. Despite Irwin predicting his inactivity for the rest of the game, the former DPOY checked back in during the fourth quarter to try and put together a Warriors run.
Golden State Warriors are failing to find consistency
The Warriors have seen a rampant change in their season. In the first 15 games, this team won 12, setting the tone for a strong and confident season. However, now they sit at 16-16 and are the 9th seed in the West. It’s clear that something has changed. To end the year, the Warriors went 4-8 in December.

So what has happened? It starts with their offense. Even in November, when the Bay had cooled down from its blistering start, they averaged nearly 115 points per game. It was a stellar number and they retained the identity of being a team that can shoot the ball, hitting 37% of their threes.
Fast forward a month, and they have scored 9 points less on deflated efficiency across the board. Moreover, they also lack the tenacity. Since November, the Warriors haven’t averaged over 9 steals per game. In the opening month, they generated close to 12. The output would be better than the Hawks, who rank second in steals per game.
The troubles, though, aren’t from their schemes and tactics. It’s more related to consistency. Despite a loss against the Clippers, Steve Kerr heaped praise on their fourth-quarter intensity. The Warriors played with great energy and fierce haste to win the ball back, resulting in deflections and 10 steals in the quarter alone.

That high octane is what the Golden State Warriors need to maintain to maybe change the times in the Bay. So far, they are falling short of that mark. Kerr cites the reason to be a loss of confidence. But now nearly midway through the season and playing in a contested Western Conference, the time to shift gears once again is now.
