The Denver Nuggets are missing one of their most important players who helped them win their first championship in franchise history last season. Point guard Jamal Murray has been out for the past 11 Nuggets’ games due to an injury in his right hamstring. Even though Nikola Jokic has dominated the league in his co-star’s absence, the 2-time MVP would love for Murray to return to the lineup and take some load off his shoulders.

A new update on Jamal Murray’s injury has given the Denver Nuggets fans a glimmer of hope for the superstar’s return.

Nikola Jokic and co. will face the Houston Rockets tomorrow. According to the latest injury report, Jamal Murray’s status has been upgraded to “questionable” for tomorrow’s game. And there is a good chance that he will make his highly anticipated return against the Rockets. That is great news for the Denver Nuggets, as Murray has missed significant time due to injury, and that has taken a toll on The Joker. Jokic was ruled out of the last game against the LA Clippers due to a back injury. Even though Reggie Jackson’s outrageous 35-point performance led the Nuggets to victory, they need Murray and Jokic in the lineup to succeed in the long run.

Jokic and Murray claimed the title of the best duo in the NBA last season after winning their first championship. Murray had an incredible run in the 2023 playoffs, averaging 26.1 points, 7.1 assists, and 5.7 rebounds. Denver needs Murray’s firepower to win back-to-back titles. The point guard has played only 7 games this season. And before the injury, he was averaging 16.3 points and 7.4 assists.

Are the Denver Nuggets still a Championship team?

While most teams in the league upgraded their roster significantly by acquiring multiple superstars, Nikola Jokic and Co. did not make any big changes this off-season. In fact, they lost more than they gained. Denver parted ways with Bruce Brown Jr. and Jeff Green, who were key players in their Championship run. But the defending champions are still looking strong, being led by one of the best players in the world. The Joker is playing at an elite level, averaging nearly a triple-double with 28.8 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 8.9 assists.

The Nuggets role players have also been in great form this season. Every player on the roster has stepped up their game, leading to the Nuggets grabbing the 3rd spot in the Western Conference with a 12-6 record. When Jamal Murray gets fully healthy and returns to the lineup, the Nuggets will be nearly impossible to beat. They have a legitimate chance at winning the Championship this season.
